So little rant tonight.
I used to work with somone who started out washing hair progressed to colourist... (She did it for about 5-6 years) Never went to college just learned on the job. (I know that's the best way to learn, but still think you need some theory aswell)
I worked for years and years to build up my knowledge and now have my own small shop.
This girl didn't even want to stay in hairdressing and does somthing els now, but is doing colours on the side charging £35 a colour and blowdry.
Just a bit peed off as she's messed up a mutual friends hair, she normally has bleached roots toned so it's platinum. Anyway she wants rose gold... Her hair so so porus.
Anyway she bleached roots didn't bother toning to match ends...don't know what colour she used but it was very golden...now my friends got ginger roots as colour washed out of midlenths and ends in 1 wash.
Anyway iv given the formula but I said bleach roots tone so all even, use affinage prepig yellow use 9.026 or 5 can't remember number. strawberry blonde anyway and 1g of 06 intensive with converter.
She told this girl this and she picking holes in it...
Really bugging me not saying you need collage I know you can be good from learning on the job, but surly there's things she won't know.
She's good a basic colours but surly for more complicated colours you need a bit of your theory???
And would she even be able to get insurance as she's not a hairdresser.

I see alot of this in the beauty industry around where I am people passing them self off as beauty expert or skin care specialists from self taught or selling products. In the end they prob wouldn't know the difference between pyrosis and a common rash to avoid any contra action ...It dose make my blood boil when we've work hard to earn our qualification .
And now I'm having a rant [emoji23]

So glad someone agrees... It's been really Peeing me off as my friend wants to come to me but doesn't dare leave this girl as she a friend and can get moody!!
Just can't believe she picking holes in my advise, she's not even qualified!!!
I was at collage 20 yrs ago got paid £40 a week. Worked my ass off even when I qualified I still worked the next 5 urs before I had a Collum. It's took me 20 yrs to get to where I am now.. Really winds me up when people do this... Can u tell haha!!

She's taking a massive risk colouring hair without holding a formal qualification because she also won't be able to purchase insurance without the qualification. I bet she's not even doing patch tests either.

Why are you giving her advice on formulas?

Just forget about her and wait for her to get sued by an angry client.

My friend came to me asking what I would do so she could tell her, i told my friend I would rectify it myself but she said she feels akward as this girl gets really funny and she sees her socially aswell. So I gave it to my friend so she wouldn't piss it up again! No she's not doing patch tests etc...silly girl!

I really wouldn't pass on any formula advice as you might be used as part of her defence if she was subsequently sued.

For instance, she might say that she was only working to your instructions and so any mistakes are yours...!

I think you're better off staying well out of it, if I were you.
