Hey all

Wondering if there are some opinions on UV lamps and gels please....

I can't decide on a UV lamp thats for starts.... priced from £20+ and various different brands. Do they all do the same thing or do some cure the gels better???

Also, I've been using the edge gel in the salon which is great - well at least i think it is because it's the only one i've used....are there better ones???

Thanks alot.

Hi, they do all cure uv gels but not with the same uv output....its always recommended that you use the same brand lamp with the brand gel....if they don't supply a lamp then ask what lamp they recommend.

There are lots of uv gels about...soak off, buff off, colours, glitters....I use Akzentz buff off gels and i am very pleased with them but there are lots to choose from.

If you use the search facility at the top of the page and type in 'What/Which Gels' or something similar, you will get many posts conataining loads of info on what others use and are sucessful with. Hth x

never choose a lamp on price alone. it is crucial that you are familiar with the curing requirements of the particular brand of gel you are using.

always select the type of lamp that your gel brand recomends as its very important that gel is properly cured to prevent over exposure issues.

additionally to wattage, theres also bulb quality to think about.
my brand of gel [lechat] requires a 9 watt lamp to cure. i choose 'daylight' tunnel lamps. the bulbs are high quality and long lasting and the fact that there are 4 x9 watt bulbs gives me a thorough all round fast cure with no 'blind spots' where the uv light cant access.

I actually bought the daylight lamp you mention above.... I saw it online for £99 and when I went to local shop to see if they stocked it, it was £49. Bonus!!
