I have just recently finished a VTCT in nails which covers manicure, pedicure and nail technology.
Was awarded a VRQ. I've never heard of it before.:confused:
Is this something new to replace an NVQ or not?

The reason I ask is that my college friend says that we are not NVQ2 qualified and asked me if I wanted to enrol on the course that she will be going to to get her NVQ. The gentleman that came in one day to speak to the group said that you cant get insurance with a VRQ and that it is not nationally recognised.

My tutor says that NVQs and VRQs are both the same thing and that if I went to the course then I would only be repeating what I've already completed.

I did VTCT and I have insurance so I am not sure you have been given the right information there. Check with different insurance companies, there are a few out there, I am with ABT, but there is BABTAC, The Guild and many more. Hope this helps. xxx
Right after alittle research here is what I found.

N = National
R = Related
S = Specialist

National Vocational Qualification (N/SVQ)
These are awarded by OCR, CYQ, City and Guilds, EdExcel and SQA

Related Vocational Qualification (RVQ)
These are based on the National Occupational Standards and are usually delivered by training providers

Hope this answers your question and what is written on your certificate because if it is VTCT then insurance should not be a problem.xxxxx

Thank you for taking time out to answer my question.
So many VQs this and VQs that; it's so confusing. Gaaaargh!

No problem just hope it helps.xxx

I just don't think this is tru hun. If you look in the front of your course book (standards) where you did your referencing, there is actually an application for insurance in it!! As far as I'm aware it is a course that gives you a qualification at Level 2. I don't think insurance will be an issue at all or else colleges wouldn't really be able to offer the course in the first place.

I'd do as annemac says and check it out with your insurers :)
