ive been waxing for 11 year and am very confident but felt a little unsure yesterday which hasnt happend to me for a while !
the problem is: i had a 8month pregnant lady with afro hair ( sorry dont mean to be rude just dont know what the right term is to use)come to me for a full leg and holly wood wax, neither of these have ever been a problem before but ive never had both together ! i found the h/wood a little difficult as didnt want to make her lye in any arkward positions so just had her legs bent out then on all 4's and for the backs of her legs had her lye on her side but some times the hairs were so downy and her skin so dark i just had to apply the wax the way hair growth normally goes. shes due back again just before the baby is due and i was hoping some one might have few ideas to make my life a bit easier x

by the way i use warm wax with strips ( incase this makes a difference)

I would definately use hot wax on the hollywood bikini, it is much easier as the hair is so much coarser and some double roots that it gets the hairs out with less pain. I would do as much of the waxing whilst she is sitting up, bending her legs to the side, leaving just a small strip down the back of her legs and then lay her to the side. Well that's how I do it, I hope this is of some help to you!

Use hot wax for her bikini waxing. With heavily pregnant women, ask them what position they're ok in and wax that way. I had a lady that preferred to stand and lean over the bed on her elbows, so I waxed the back of hair legs whilst she stood and I sat on my wheeled stool that goes up and down. xx

ive only tried hot wax once and it scared me ! ive never been trained in it so when i used it wasnt sure how thick to put it on and then it didnt pull all the hairs out. would you suggest i go on a training course with this or do you think if i practised alot with it i'd be ok ? i will ask her next time if she wants to stand that sounds like a great idea. does afro hair on the bikini and tops of legs tend to grow in the normal direction ? just with her hair and skin being dark it was difficult to see, i also found her bikini area very course and difficult as it was tightly curled. thanks for your help xx

You need to have a qualification to be insured to do hollywood & brazillians an intiamte hot waxing course would be great and also show you how to do it as its is quite different from warm wax hun, not sure abut the hair being different or not someone will on here thou! lol I always ask clients to trim the hair so its between half a centimeter to a centimenter long but as this lady is pregnant yu may have to do it, makes area easier to wax and also you will be able to see which wat the hair is growing.
Also depends which wax system you use, as I am using ABC just now & you have to put the wax on in a figure of 8, but am just about to change to berins and you can apply this the same way you would warm wax but thicker. hth xx

Afro hair is slightly different to European hair. Because it's curly it's obviously harder to see the hair growth, afro hair is also more prone to breakage and ingrowing hairs from waxing even with correct waxing techniques.

I find usually it takes me a bit longer because it tends to grow all different directions. hope that helps, I have afro hair and so do several of my client's x x

thanksfor your help really appreciate it:D. i qualified in waxing years ago and the covered all types of waxing ie hot wax warm wax and sugaring etc but they didnt show you hot wax on braz and h/wood so does anyone know if im still insured ? x
