I have suspicion my Lycon pre-waxing oil is causing ingrown hairs/infected follicles on a couple clients, only in the bikini area not other parts of the body.

As part of my investigation I find the Lycon oil contains the following:-

Paraffinum Liquidum (mineral oil),Prunus Armeniaca (apricot),Kernel Oil,Jasminum Officinale (jasmine) Oil,Bisabolol,Parfum (fragrance),Benzyl Alcohol,Benzyl Benzoate,Benzyl Salicylate,Cinnamyl Alcohol,Linalool,Green 6 (CI 61565),Violet 2 (CI 60725).

I know there is another thread about Jasmine being a concern. I am not pleased to find that there is PARFUM as this can cause irritation. Is there anything else in these ingredients that is a concern?

For Berins and PR users out there, could you tell me the ingredients of the oil please. I am looking to try both brands out.

Many thanks.

I could post the ingredients of Perron Rigot Jassmine Oil, but there is no way that ANY oil, regardless of brand, causes ingrown hairs.

I use oil on all intimate waxing for men and women and the only people who get ingrown hairs (very few clients) are the people who are prone to them. xxx

Kim, I am a little baffled, this client with strip wax gets no ingrown hairs, but hot wax with oil she gets a few very bad ingrowns/infected follicles with pus.

She follows proper aftercare.

I read in the other thread oil can cause ingrown, just wanted another opinion from readers here as this is new to me.

Can PARFUM cause skin irritation --> ingrowns --> infection?

Are you applying oil after waxing too? If you are, stop and just cleanse and apply soothing lotion.

I totally disagree with what was said on the other thread.

Try waxing her next time without oil but using hot wax and see how you go. Maybe it's the wax and not the oil. Have you considered that? xxx

I did consider wax contamination but the wax was used on her underarm and that was fine. I also had other waxing clients on the day with no report of a problem.

I don't apply oil after wax. However, if I need to go over the area again I do apply another layer of oil, perhaps this could be the problem.

Shall try what you suggested.

Many thanks.

Edited - another reason why its not wax contamination is because she got the ingrowns for the last 2 hot waxes, just in bikini area, but different location.

I do agree with Kim, I dont think from what you say its the oil, but maybe the wax? If your client reacts with ingrown hair in certain areas maybe suggest either Clear it or if redness occurs soothing mask (sorry dont know what other brands call their aftercare products). also bear in mind that a client who doesnt react in one area might still react in a different area with ingrown hairs or redness and inflammation.
But if you want i can still list the ingredients in our Jasmine oil if that is any help but I have not at all come across anyone who has reacted to the oil itself.

Sorry doll.....didn't make myself clear. I didn't mean wax contamination, I just meant that maybe there is as ingredient in the wax that doesn't agree with her. xx

Ah I see. I am ordering Berins and PR.

As she is an excellent client I will test the Berins on one side of the bikini and PR on the other.

Get the PR Euroblonde. xx
