Waxing

hiya everyone..

Not to sure if I'm posting in the right area here. But I'm currently a nail technician and in training as a professional make up artist. I'm also looking into learning how to wax. So I'm wondering, what specific qualifications you need to become a waxing specialist. Any information or advice would be great, i just started looking into it thanks in advance and sorry if I posted in the wrong area

I've never seen a waxing course on it own so you may have to have a snoop around but I'm a beauty therapist and it was obviously covered in my course hth!

All my beauty courses were in modules and they did suggest i take skincare prior to the waxing, which was definitely helpful.

Hiya, I could be wrong here but I think you may need level 2 qualification which covers most aspects of beauty? The separate 1day waxing courses require level 2

I have just completed a VRQ Level 2 in Beauty Therapy and we covered waxing (Leg, Underarm, Bikini, Arm, Eyebrow, Lip and Chin).

I do believe you can take this up as an individual unit.....well you can at the college I studied at. Its 1 evening a week for 20 weeks with a City and Guilds certificate at the end. You may find other shorter / longer courses elsewhere.

For insurance purposes with most, if not all services, you will need to have a certificate / qualification.

Intimate waxing is covered on a separate course.

Certain beauty wholesalers such as salon services, abc beauty and m&s salon supplies do starter waxing courses and also do specialist waxing courses for Hollywood and brazilians x

Thanks for all the input ladies. I got my NVQ diploma when I did my mail course so assumed you needed the same sort of cert just wasn't too sure what kind.
