Hi everyone,

Don't know what i am doing wrong, please help. Am learning the fibre technique and am using silk, have practised on myself a couple of times and last week put a set on a family friend. she usually has L&P and is very happy with them but i persuaded her to try silk to help me out and yesterday i had a phone call from her saying that they were "peeling" from the cuticle up the nail and that some of them had split down the middle.. I thought my prep work was good, i applied 1 layer of silk all over the nail and a layer over the apex, and 1 layer of resin, then activator and then again. Does the activator have to be totally dry before applying another layer of resin? do you need to apply primer to the natural nail like with L&P, because i have been doing, could this be my problem? should i apply another layer of resin (so will be 3?), or another layer of silk?

Please help, i am going back tomorrow night to put it right, am losing confidence in fibreglass and might just take them off and put acrylic on...

which brand do you use?

the protocol with OPI microwrap isn't totally same as what you are doing, here we prep (this is also a major point in fiberglass/silk/microwrap), then a layer of wrap, then a specifique liquid glue, then you activate if needed (if you do all 10 nails you don't need to use the activator at this point) then you build with the resine, in one or 2 layers, but you don't activate either in between if you do all 10 nails, unless you can.
then you finish it with what you can, a sealer, a top gel, a polish...

I NEVER had any lifting with this method.
