Just wondering what you look for in a tan range or how you choose one?

What ingredients do you like or don't like?

What does the bronzer have to be like?

What should the tan range consist of? Is 3 solutions enough or should there be a larger choice?

How long should it last?

What do you think tanning ranges lack at the minute?

What else do you base your decision on? Price? Name? Image? Popularity?

In my ideal world I would like a tan that takes perfectly on the hands and feet without applying cream or blending in a lighter tan. I use four brands as I believe no one solution suits every client or every situation of my clients lifestyle.

Is it possible for one range to fit all?

I sampled a few brands before I came to the decision to use Sienna, so what I like and was looking for was ...........

Natural ingredients/good smell

Good guide colour as it matters what a client looks like when you have sprayed them - I think they like to see a nice colour initially it gives them the feel good factor and confidence in you.

Minimum of 3 shades so many different skin types its important to have choice - although I rarely use 8% generally 8.5, 10, 12 & now 16 on the younger generation who seem to want to be unaturally dark.

My current solution lasts on clients generally 7 days plus depending on their aftercare of course, but that is down to me drumming it in and them following it. So I think 1 week is good.

I base my decision first & foremost on client feedback colour, fade off longevity etc then it does have to be reasonably priced as in my area tans are mainly £10 so although I charge more than that and dont have a problem getting clients, I do think you get what you pay for and am not afraid to tell clients that. I also think good after care products play a big part.

I would like to see a faster developing tan :) (looking forward to my samples) and a good remover that could be used by the technician if needed prior to spraying again, as clients are crap at ex foliating regularly to remove the tan evenly they always come back with bits on their backs.

I must say I am perfectly happy using the one brand at the moment I find it covers all my bases just wish I could charge what I think its worth.

No, I dont beleive you can have it all, lol! I have been trying to find an alternative to my solution I use now, for about 6 months and there is always something i dont like! Poor Jaffacake will vouch for this as she always has to be my guniea pig, lol:lol:
What I want from a solution is;

Beautifull colours from sunkissed to chocolate brown

Great customer service - I want to be phoned when promotions are on etc

Non sticky solutions - I dont want clients to feel "clammy"

As smell free as possible - No stale biccy smell for my clients!

Great retail range, with no stock issues!

Excellant range of promotional material

Reasonably priced - I use one of the most expensive at the mo!

Long lasting tans - None of your 3 days then gone solutions

Not too strong a guide colour

Min of 3 colour choices

Hmmm, think thats it, lol!

It's funny, you sound like me, I'm never happy and allways on the lookout for something that could be better! I love sienna x, but I still think there should be something even more olive/brown looking out there:!:

I totaly agree. I love Sienna x, their service is fantatsic, but its not dark enough for some of my clients. I havent tried the 16% yet though. Have you? Is this a darker brown/brown?

No I haven't tried it yet. I'm allways under the impression it will turn orange, so the highest I have is a 12%. I do think sienna x is great for the natural looking tan, but like you, there's allways going to be clients who want to look really dark and they can't really afford a top up tan the next day. I'm allways on the net looking for new things, I'm looking at siennasol and oztan at the mo. There's too many out there!

xx

I have and use the 16% and find it is a deeper brown so yes it is darker but then again the result depends on the natural skin tone doesn't it, I have only used it on clients with a warm tone to their skin but would recommend it to you.
