someone asked me today if i did gel powder, she said they dip the brush in liquid and then in the powder. I asjked if it was set under a uv lamp as i suspected it was L&P but she said it was put under a lamp?

Also i get a price list from a local salon and they offer silk powder, Whats that?

Thanks

This is a really antiquated process - today the products are much more sophisticated. Dont know what your client is trying to acheive but if its a natural look I would recommend calgel. I personally use the products and know they do a good job. XX

Some 'discount' nail salons in my area use L&P but call it 'gel' because at the end of the service, they use a UV topcoat, which is cured under a lamp. HTH! :)

Hello!
Gel Powder is actually a special acrylic powder that gets sprinkled onto the gel after its is applied and before its cured. I use regular clear acrylic powder for this technique. It thickens the gel and gives it a bit of strength. I have done this for years. Some manufacturers call it a "Gel Powder" which is confusing.

there is actually a genuine product called powder gel from lechat.
however it is applied like a gel polish from a bottle then the powder is spinkled on then it is cured in a u.v lamp layer by layer.

so it doesnt sound like what your client had at all. i think she may be describing liquid and powder acrylic application with a gel topcoat as one of the other posters suggested.

another thing that it could be is acrygel. however from the description i doubt it, as it is not a liquid but a gel that is picked up on the brush first then dipped into powder before applying to the nail and curing in a u.v lamp.
