hi a potential client has asked if i can do the dip acrylic on her as she loves it and says it seems to stay on better and looks better than the l&p but i cant remember the name she gave it! is it more expensive? how do you find it to use? is it easy to do?:)

if you search on this site, you'll find tonnes of info.

It has been referred to as : Tip-and-dip, Acrylic Dip, and "gel resine" as it's known in Quebec.

It's not as costly as UV Gel, and/or L&P and is quicker to apply.
It is NOT as strong, and requires a soak-off every 2nd to 3rd visit due to it's porosity.

Backscratcher's system is called Extreme. In my experience some have to soak it off earlier than others, but then I've had some client's who can go a year with the same set. If the stress area is built up, it is just as strong as l/p IMO! Dos not hold well if someone is in water a lot.

I've tried this and i just don't see how it works at all..
What i did was apply monomer to where i wanted the powder..
it took forever to be quite honest and didn't c any sort of nail extension looking result

I have used the Backscratchers one and it is very easy to do....and can produce a lovely looking nail....I used to dip once the whole nail...then dip again on only zone 2 and 1....giving more strength but staying nice and thin in zone 3. What i didn't like was re balance time...it was a pain to rebalance....maybe because i was used to filing gel (easy to file) but this seemed hard to file and clients who wanted french was a problem.

Hey Chicca

You dont use monomer with tip and dip:eek:, its resin and a fine dipping powder, I use this for my prom nails, although popits are taking over:lol:

There are different ways of doing rebalance and yes, the system isn't as easy to file as gel,b but you don't get all the dust either. One way is using their white powder, which I found was a pain. You can use white tips and after they have grown out you replace (brings in more income), plus their nails always look fresh and new. The other way is to use a paint on white and then apply the clear acrylic over that. You don't have to file it all the way off, just thin down the whole nail and reapply, very easy. It is almost like doing a gel paint on, but not as thick. Not sure if this is available overseas.

And no, you don't use monomer with the dip system.

hi thanks everyone i think i will give it a go!:)

Have a look at Victoria's fab tutorial, this should give you a better idea as to how it works x
