For those of you who are qualified in various treatments, what is your specialised area? What are you known for?

Im qualified in 7 treatments but only 1 i am specialised in and that is tanning, ive been doing this the longest and im good at what i do, i have 1000% confidence and know it like the back of my hand BUT i dont feel like this with my other treatments and i wish i did.

I know we cant be master of all but i really would like at least one more specialised area that im known for. With nails its dead as a door nail and no1 asks for them, and i still wouldnt class myself as a great nail technician, ive seen better. With make up i did qualify but never got round to getting all the kit and feel like ive lost the touch and need another makeup course.

Lash and brow tinting i hardly do, this is another treatment that i know like the back of my hand but not many people interested in having this.

So whats your special area?
Also do you have more than one specialised area?

thanks x

hey

like you i am qualified in a number of treatments however I feel where I am specialised has to be spray tanning and eyelash extensions. This is probably because I am very passionate about doing them, Infact I LOVE TANTRICK AND FLIRTIES!!! hehe. So like you I have alot of confidence in these areas.

Again with nails I have zero confidence and this is something that really needs building on,i have just had a 50 minute conversation with a friend who is going to do some one to one training with me in the nails as I get asked alot for them and I know I do a terrible job and was considering taking them off my price list. So now we have decided to spend a couple of weeks in the evenings going back to basics to work on my problems and she is going to help me with what I avoid.

For other things such as manicure, pedicure, lash and brow tinting, facials and waxing im happy to do the treatments but wouldnt say I am specialised in them i do them as i get asked for them alot.

I am returning to college 2 evenings a week in sept to do my Level 3. Once I have done this I will spend a year or two on the treatments I enjoy and that I have a skill for and then decide on either opening a salon or going on to teach others my skills for now Im looking forward to new challenges with what im already doing, especially in tanning and eyelash extensions.

I love everything, but if i could nail it,pardon the pun,it would be 2 areas, natural nail care, and skin care....although i am enjoying and anticipating all nail systems, although i love gel and fibre, and yet to conquer my fear for L&P:eek::lol:

Well, I'm not sure if anyone on geek knows this, but I specialise in holistics! lol!

I suppose my one area of expertise is massage, as I have done about 10 courses in it, so when someone comes for a massage they don't get a bog-standard college learn't routine, they get what I intuitively give them on the day, it will consist of swedish, Indonesian, hands-free, deep tissue, trigger point and pressure points. Sometimes reiki infuses the massage too.

When can I get booked in!!!!!!!

Glad im not the only one! I would like to become specialised in waxing and be known for this aswell, as i really enjoy waxing.

I think the main issue with nails is i dont enjoy doing them, as i know im not brilliant.

Currently I guess it would be nails both natural and L&P. I am starting to get confident with nail bitters now too after having done alot!

BUT I want to be known for my waxing. Its a slower process but I am at a point now I can offer waxing and not a tiny part of my client is sticky after. Apparently according to my clients every other place they have been to has left them a little sticky in areas.

I think the same would go for the lady who does my waxing (at her home based treatment room); she used to do nails (manicures and pedicures but not enhancements) but now focuses mainly on doing waxing and lash and brow tinting, as well as wanting to move into the more "paramedical" sort of skin treatments (e.g. glycolic peels, laser hair removal, etc) on account of having trained as a nurse a year or so ago as well. And I can see why this would be the case too; in terms of what she was charging in for manicure and pedicure compared to waxing, the gross hourly rate for the waxing would work out significantly more than she would take for a manicure or pedicure (in terms of time taken for a given treatment and prices charged to clients), so financially it would make more sense (in her case) to focus on the waxing and drop the nails.
