Ok, I hate doing nails, my passion long gone, but I am worringly one of the best nail techs in my area. I'm good, but no where near the competition standard I would love to be.

I first trained in star nails in 1998. Hated their products so converted to Creative, acrylic and used the edge gel system. Whilst I have never ever had any complaints, (unfortunetly I get recommended) I was unhappy with my work.

I am now after a baby returning back to beauty as I am inundated with clients wanting nails. I HATE NAILS!! I threw all my old stuff away and now need you guys to relight my passion!

What is the best Gel and Acrylic System on the market today?

What system is quick (I think I hate nails because they take me an hour to do!)?

What are these popits really like? Have they revolutionised nails?

Please Please Help Me!!!!!!!!!!!

Money is no object, I just dont want to keep taking peoples money and feeling like I am not giving them what they are paying for. I want to be happy with their nails!

Thankyou for listening to me waffle!!

Ok, I hate doing nails, - Well then why are you doing them? my passion long gone, but I am worringly one of the best nail techs in my area. I'm good, but no where near the competition standard I would love to be.

I first trained in star nails in 1998. Hated their products so converted to Creative, acrylic and used the edge gel system. Whilst I have never ever had any complaints, (unfortunetly I get recommended)- WTH :irked:! I am sooooo happy each time someone recommends me! I was unhappy with my work.

I am now after a baby returning back to beauty as I am inundated with clients wanting nails. I HATE NAILS!!- Why go back to it then? I threw all my old stuff away and now need you guys to relight my passion!

What is the best Gel and Acrylic System on the market today?- I love Creative, NSI and Ezflow.

What system is quick (I think I hate nails because they take me an hour to do!)?- I take between an hour and a half to 2 hrs at times, so what, I am enjoying every minute of it. I dont think a certain system is going to make it even quicker than an hour.

What are these popits really like? Have they revolutionised nails?

Please Please Help Me!!!!!!!!!!!

Money is no object, I just dont want to keep taking peoples money and feeling like I am not giving them what they are paying for. I want to be happy with their nails! - I dont think you should be doing something you do not love. I speak for myself and possibly most of the tech's on this site that I LOVE NAILS 100%! Nobody else can instill/relight passion in you, if you dont feel it, how can someone else make you want to do it? Thats like dating someone you cannot stand and asking your friends to convince you to like them! Im sorry but I absolutely love what I do & will never get sick of it. Unfortunately it sounds like you have had enough of it and should do what makes you happy, not miserable.

Thankyou for listening to me waffle!!- No worries :)

I try not to do nails lol!!! But my door gets knocked on day and night for people wanting them. And yes I see the pound signs especially at a time in the industry many people are panicking.

I get 4-5 people a day beg me to do nails because I am apparently good. Some of the nails here where I live are awful, too thin that they break, too thick that they look like wedges, lift, fall off or are done by NSS bars that drill there natural nail into nothing!

Now yes if I could turn around and say go to so and so then I would not touch nails. But theres only one technician I would go to here but there always booked up (and expensive!) even though ppl round here now realise you get what you pay for.

I hated make up too but recently got back my passion. Ten years ago I hated waxing and would never do it, now I love it.

Its not a case of give up, its me trying to turn my personal weakness into a strength.

If I get better and get more confidence I will be a lot happier, and in all honesty isnt it better I do ppls nails here knowing that they are good so they avoid getting there own nails destroyed. It also gives ppl a standard to expect!

I know I sound negative, I wish I wasnt this is why I popped this thread up to see how I can change and actually feel happy doing this!

Thanks Kate

I'm afraid I agree with Corrine on this one, you do sound very negative, and eventually whether you like it or not that negativity will come across to the client ,and even worse will show in your work.
Only you know if the fire is there, and it is worth investing in training, buying products, if it isn't then IMHO I think you should leave nails to the people who do have the passion for doing them. :green:

This sounds like a wonderful business opportunity for passionate, professional nail techs to move in to this area, they are obviously needed:lol:

I would suggest you book yourself on to The Event in October which will not only update you on all the latest techniques, it will motivate and inspire you, I promise!

If you are unable to attend that particular weekend, then I would strongly advise you to take some up-to-the-minute training, even a 1-to-1. Best thing to get you going again:)

So once upon a time you DID have a passion for nails and so must have loved doing them at some point? Sounds to me like you've lost your nail MOJO kiddo! It happens! It's how you get it back that's the problem.

What relights many peeps nail fire is a good ol' training session - always works for me to push myself harder and be better, and not stuck in a rut that makes what we do become tedious if we aren't careful.

Just an added thought that may be way of base BUT if money is no object then maybe that isn't helping because maybe you don't NEED to work! I do need to work, and I love counting out my spondoolicks at the end of each day. It all helps to motivate!!!

Yes your right! I did have it once I used to do it morning noon and night lol! I do need some money but your right but before I fell pregnant I was doing nails for £20 as favours to people who were getting a bum deal at other salons. a whole hours work for only £20 and that hurts when I earn more for beauty, and nails I think done properly cost £7-£9 is this right?. I know people here would pay £30+ for a set but is this enough? I would rather do less hours for more money like the rest of us lol but thats because with 3 children I cant bang in 80 hour weeks anymore.

I havnt done any training in years on nails, where as every other area I have had different opportunities and products. I do alot of professional photo shoots and weddings at the minute so when I get asked to go to london they always ask if I do nails also. I say not at the minute but will do again soon, because I need the other work too.

Going to see that lady gigi at the event, I hope her passion will rub off on me! All I want is to reproduce those stunning nails you see in scratch. I have very very high standards, so if I am not able to win competitons with my nails I think im bad! But then you have to be in it to win it and I have never entered any comps!

Thankyou for your advice Sassy and Fiona I just need the kick up the bum to re-train!

Think I will stick to what I know which is CND, but maybe do a photo shoot with just nails to see what I can actually do!

Why does life not come with a training manual!

Hey hun this is not meant to cause offence but do you think there is something else in your life that is making you feel this way about something you used to love...you say your known to be good and do photo shoots etc but you think your nails arent good!!!! Did something happen (I dont mean broadcast it on the net:)) but do you thing you genuanly hate the job or is it that you feel it was taking over doing 80 hour weeks etc that you cant get away from it all maby??
