some shellac nail art i did today...

How do you get the matte/gloss effect with shellac? When I tried it I buffed the top coat to mattify it then did the design. But of course it was no longer shiny after wiping off the inhibition layer & you can't top coat... Where was I going wrong? X

You do not need the inhibition layer for Shellac so that shouldn't be a problem *hug*

I do it this way

Base, cure
2x colour coat, cure each coat
2x top coat, cure each coat
D'sperse
Buff
Reapply topcoat to the areas I want shiny, cure
Oil

See this is where I was getting in a pickle - so the only option really is to just apply the top coat to the design I have done using a little brush (for example, I was using overtly onyx with top coat buffed, then reapplied more overtly onyx in a zebra stripe). Seems fiddly but I shall trust your judgement and give it a try! Thanks hun much appreciated

Love these did you use cream puff for your stripes?also if you don't mind me asking what brush did you use? I done some stripes but they looked abit wishy washy when I used cream puff .X

Hi, yes I ued cream puff & I used the striping brush from the additives set (the one in the silver box with the free brushes)

Which pink have you used for the Cow's nose and the pig's face? I can't find a shellac pink like this? Both Gotcha and rosebud I find are more salmony when applied whereas what you've used is a gorgeous candy floss pink!

I know its not mine but i'd have said gotcha. I did a cow a few weeks back on a pop, for a friend who works at an Agricultural college and I used Rosebud which I thought was perfect xx

Yes I've got 2 layers of purple purple on so brisa lite base, brisa smoothing 2x purple purple glitter, clearly pink then top coat. I absolutely love this glitter I've just done toes in holographic green with hotski under. Trying to get the right light to take a decent photo xx
