About to do a spray tanning course, so excited but not sure about equipment, been given a price of nearly £600, think this seems loads but so new to the business I don't know and therefore need help. Don't wanna be ripped off but am I best buying from the company or can I find cheaper and as good quality but from where?

Any advice greatly appreciated before I burn a huge hole in my pocket!!

Thanks all

Each piece of equipment has its benefits plus it always depends on what your using it for.

If your a salon then you want a machine with a large motor. If your planning on doing lots of spray tan parties or mobile work something like the HVLP 550 (PIG) or Maximist 5008 are great machines. If your only planning on one or two tans a day the Maximist Spraymate is a great little machine to get you started.

Most companies now have starter kits for around two hundred pounds which have excellent machines and tents. Most come with a litre or so of solution to get you started so you earn back what you spent before outlaying any thing else.

Avoid machines though designed for painting walls or cars! Never a good look! lol! Go faster stripes should stay on fiestas not clients!!

Hi Brunierei, that seems quite steap. What you have to look into also is how much are the solutions to buy with that brand. My friend has just bought a start up pack from LA Tanning with everything that u need to get going from the machine to the sticky feet it was only £275! It comes with 4ltrs also. The gr8 thing about la tan is there ltrs and gallons are on buy 1 get 1 free! Gud luck x

suntana also do a very reasonable starter kit for just over 200 pounds so definitely shop around

Hiya
Vani-t also have some great starter packages.x

Tantrick have a budget starter package too

Okay, so T200 machine, tent & full kit £660 inc training Sienna x £75 training alone

£349 maximist machine & training Suntana or £239 no training

Couture £60 training, equipment with HVLP machine £345 including litre of solution

Please help, so confused, can I train with one but use a different solution or are the techniques different?!

Will be working part time so don't need industrial machine, mobile and from home, max 10 people a week I reckon.

Thanks Kate, so difficult knowing which machine to use and what solution is best, don't wanna scare people off if they don't like the colour!! :irked:

Yes love you can train with who ever you want and then buy your kit from where ever you want and use any solution that you choose,
99% of machines will apply any professional solution,
each company will train you in a slightly different technique but you can apply any solution using the technique you have been taught you don't have to use a different technique for each one, hth

It's definately not down to the price in my opinion - hell, I'v spent loads on getting it wrong by trying to get it right! Have a look at the forums and read the reviews on the machines & training..... I have re-trained on new equipment and with a different company after lots of research and the results have been 'amazing'!

Couldn't agree more...I sometimes cringe when I see some postings and how little therapists are willing to invest in their future business by buying cheaper and cheaper equipment as more and more suppliers now offer them...yikes one such machine being offered by many companies is a machine that's actually come from bathroom kits..these machines are used to blow air into bubble baths

If you want some advice ...spend as much as you can on a machine..its your lively hood and will last for many years, use less solution so in fact more economical in the long run.

Therapists entering the sector who opt for cheaper machines invariably are unhappy..feel a bit ripped off and invariably throw the darn thing away (or keep it as a back up) and go off and invest a second time in a proper machine.

When will people realise that "buy this and get this for free"is simply an excuse to justify what they are buying in the first place is a heap of rubbish.

If your going into business as a professional....buy professional equipment..that way you will save money in the longer run and be one happy bunny

It's such a difficult thing when you're so new to the business to know whether the machines do simialar things or if one company is massively overpricing something therefore any advice is greatly appreciated. Could you suggest a good machine for home and mobile use & spray tan parties. It will be a part time job but you're right, I want a good machine that will last and do the job, happy to invest money if I've had confirmation from others who use it that it's good and will last me.

Thanks Colin for your post, would appreciate any advice so I make the right decision :)

It is very difficult especially when there are so many different packages being offered.
Think realistically...you get what you pay for

For the nature of the buisness you are refering to you really cant do any better than the T200...its been around for many years and by far is the most comonly used machine at the low entry price level.
It will last many a good year, service you well and is available from many dealers all of whome offer a fair price and excellent after sales support.

Look to spend around £500 on a machine, tent, solutions, training and accesories...in reality for starting up in buisness thats a very small price to pay.

Whichever machine you finaly decide on...good luck with your new venture

Thanks Colin, you've been really helpful, was thinking between T200 and maximist and really didn't know difference really but T200 has best reviews. Have training tomorrow so will update how I get on!! Thanks again!

The price between the two holds the answer.

Good luck with your training
