I had a Job Interview for Part time Therapist at the end of July & was offerered the job on the day! I was really pleased as The salon owner was going to put me through training such as IPL, Microdermabrasion, Cellulite treatments etc.... Treatments I was looking forward to learning.
Anyway, due to the salon moving premises, I was told I wouldnt be able to start until September, in Which i would carry out some training the weeks leading up to and start on the 'Launch day' of the salon. This was fine with me as it gave me time to sort my 10month old son out with regards to finding someone to look after him etc.
I was due to do a days training last week & at 9.30am (training was at 10) I received a phone call, from salon owners, mother in law! to say it was cancelled & the owner would call me to let me know whats happening with it being re arranged.
A week later Ive not heard a THING!!!!! Im so annoyed, Ive been calling the salon as this is the only number I have since last week and cant get an answer... Ive been to the salon, only to discover that its been completely ripped and gutted out, with a notice on the door saying they have moved.
I then drove to the new premises and there was a sign saying they are working from a temporary room, until the launch day which is yet to be announced. Although there was no one there!
Im so fed up, I feel like she is mucking me around and I feel that she has been so Unprofessional that I dont paticurly want to work for her now anyway!!! Why couldnt she phone me herself to let me know the training had been cancelled and she hasnt had the curtisy (spelling?) to call me and apologise!
I was instructed by her shortly after my interview that Id have another 2 days training next week, but am now unsure whats going on as I havnt heard anything!! GRRRRRRRR!
Obviously it would be nice to have a little notice ....... alternatively, if she is now not intending on employing me, Id like to know!!
What should I do??

I would proceed on the basis that there are other jobs out there and continue to look for something more definite and professional. In the mean time if/when the salon owner contacts you I would think twice about whether this is a reliable opportunity before starting work.

I agree. Work on the assumption that they dont want to employ you any more (it may seem harsh but you need to cover yourself) and look for other jobs.

You have clearly done everything you reasonably can to contact them, and to be honest even if they did contact you and you went to work for them, unless there were really exceptional circumstances behind them leading you a bit of a merry dance like they did, I would feel cautious that they may not be exemplary employers. Remember it works both ways, not only do they have to know that you are the right employee for them with all the right qualities, you have to know that they are the right employers for you.
