Hiya,
I had a client in today - returning for her first rebalance. Did a set of sculpts (using CND custom blend - my own recipe from the tutorials) 3 wks ago.
She was happy with the length of her nails, even though they had grown, her original nails were reasonably long and were very fanned out and ski jump types, so I took off all the length on her first appointment so I could 'enhance' her nails better.
ON this rebalance appointment, I filed down (from above) zone 1, reduced the thickness in zone 2 and did a small amount of 'flushing to the nail plate' with zone 3 - there was barely any lift to speak off.
I then rebalanced with CND white and used the new CND Opaque Warm Pink (Fantastic colour) in zones 2 & 3. Her nails looked fab, fabulous colour match to her skin tone etc, you could not see any difference and I used it straight from the tub!
Anyway....having extended her nail beds, I introduced the new stress area at the new smile line. I have to say, as much as she was over the moon with them and thought they looked fab. I just thought the stress area/apex seemed in the wrong place. It was more or less towards the end of the hyponichium of her finger, when viewed from the side.
Do you think they will be OK?

It sounds right to me.
I am imagining you put it where it would be if her nail were to have been able to reach the free edge. it would have been weird to put it where the actual one was.
As long as it was not top-heavy in any way:)

This is an interesting question and one which I would like to know the answer to also.

Surely the apex would need to go where the stress area actually is as it is there to protect that area but where would that actually be if extending the nail bed on people whose are short? If that is further up then you're right, would it look silly?

Just thought I'd bump this back up.....thanks xx

I was taught that the apex should always be in the middle of the nail regardless of whether it is tipped, sculpted or nno.
