so, when i opened the salon, my ex got me the mirrors for the walls. I got 5, cos I only needed 4 but got one spare, which is good cos the goon didnt put them up right and one fell off and smashed overnight (thank god)

so, now we're not together, and he's being an idiot and saying he can get me more, then he cant, then ill need to wait, then he'll drop them off next door and tbh i just dont wanna have to contact him. i got them for a tenner each off him, thru his work.

now, i have 4 mirrors on one wall, the orange wall, http://www.salongeek.com/members/kimi1101-albums-+salon+:)-picture16259-dsc00481.html

but I wanna put another three against this wall, and obv move the sofas etc which is against it just now. http://www.salongeek.com/members/ki...icture24988-been-shuffled-bit-since-then.html

if you put those two pics together in your mind, thats how the salon is just now, the two walla face one another (iykwim)

so when you walk in the door, the white wall is on the left, orange is on the right. What i wanna ask is will it look stupid if I get mirrors and chairs that don't match the others on the orange side? i dont know if i can get chairs that match yet, iv not looked, but I think it would look OK....but not sure. Could just bite the bullet and ask the ex for the mirrors but I justw ould rather not. Otherwise I replace all the mirrors but that won't be cheap.

Help! Thanks x

i think it will look fine. It will be on two seperate walls so sort of seperate areas. If the mirrors were as mis-matched it might look odd but one side being different to the other might be nice, break things up and make it less uniform! xxx

I think it should look fine Kim. Have you tried to source the mirrors yourself, you may be able to get them without having to go through him. xx

The company he works for don't really make them any more, not much call for them. If I could find them anywhere, I would be paying around £60 each and I just don't think they are worth that.

I've seen some second hand mirror station type things that are reasonably priced, so I think I'll look at getting them.

Thanks :) was just worried my salon would look like a jumble sale lol

Ah I see, I think it will be fine. xx

My thought on this is if you do end up getting different chairs and mirrors i wouldnt have one side different from the other i would mix it all up a bit. I know it sounds a bit mad but i have seen salons where they do it and it looks fab!!!
Buy a selection of completely different statement mirrors , move and intermix your existing ones so you celebrate the difference!!!!
Can you envision it or do you think i have lost it!!!!

I can envision it....my salon isn't very wacky though and it seems like a very "trendy" idea, whereas my salon is pretty classic.

I think I can get chairs very similar if not identical, from what I gather they are just generic Salon Services type stock...so it should just be the mirrors. Hmmm...off to see if I can find pics of these intermixed stations

Things look worse when they try to match and dont quite. I wouldnt mix it up as such, just go for maybe round mirrors on the other side, so that they are different on purpose. the paint on the walls already follows this theme so just go with it!

hi.... go to ikea they have fab cheapish mirrors, thats where i got mine from they were £80 each but they are massive... you can get smaller ones too, have a look on the web site.. and u can order online now and have them delivered...xx

Kim, I really like this idea. I think it could work quite well and help balance the room xxx

I to would definetly mix them up, say one silver-framed mirror, then 1 black-framed, then back to the silver-framed and then match on the opposite wall. The same with the chairs, it might sound wacky as you say, but I think once you have done it, it will look really good, as it will actually match iykwim

hmmm, you are all tempting and sawying me now. I tried ikea website but it was bugging me so i gave up on it. however im in edinburgh tomorrow so I could pop in there and have a wee look at the mirrors. :) thanks everyone xx

I thought of you today Kim, I went to country baskets and they had some great mirrors in there, really well priced....I don't know if there's one over your way....but there's one near Glasgow. xx

I think it would look fine. If the walls are different colours and the furniture is not the same on both sides then it doesn't need to be symmetrical.

Just do it with flair and you'll get away with it.

well now i am very tempted by the mix and match idea. found mirrors on ebay for £60 each, p+p free, and they are lovely.

:D

Ooohhh and can we have some photo's / update on your interior design decision.
