    Desperately searching for nail shapes

I did a set of "pipe" nails, but not, if ya know what I mean. I've never taken any specific training in the way they do things in EU, but I like the forms, so I did what I called "my take" on the pipe form. She felt the need to point out that the angle was off and I hadn't pinched as much as...

    Desperately searching for nail shapes

Lord, I hope someone can help me! I have been searching every nail site known to me for what seems like hours. A while back I saw a thread about the different nail shapes, stiletto, pipe, square, edge, etc. It had a diagram of the different shapes and described them. I am having a difference...

Which top coat DON'T you use on a Hairdresser?

Sorry to reply late but I hope this helps anyway, I'm not sure which top coat you heard was not to be used but I use glaze n go on my hairstylist's nails and never have any staining issues.

HELP! - I want to buy an electric file but they are all so expensive!

I would also suggest saving and taking your time deciding that an e-file is really what you want. I have never owned one, although I was very interested when I first started out, ummm, 14 years ago :) I even took a hands on class with EZ-Flow. While I was saving for my e-file I discovered that I...

    How do you become perfect!!!

Lifting can also be caused by ratio trouble, when I first started using NSI I had huge issues with this. I had been using another acrylic system for years and was using the same technique. I went to my distributor and when she said to watch my ratios it all clicked. You could try applying it a...

    Desperately Seeking Nail Artist!

Apparently I am the only tech in Calgary on ANY nail forum, as I can't seem to find anyone on any of the ones I frequent. Well, I'll keep trying I guess.

Does anyone do this or am I just going crazy? (c-curve using tips)?

Thankyou! Just goes to show you can never stop learning. I've been looking for a way to get my c-curve without pinching. I have very thin nails and without acrylic they are very flat, after my acrylic has grown out to an overlay they have a very deep c-curve. Unfortunately this can take a while...

    First Attempt LCN

It's not silly at all to want constructive critique, how else would we improve our work? This is a very good first attempt and wonderful that you didn't try to do them too long, they are a perfect length. They do need a bit more filing or a little more practice with the amount that you apply...

How do you protect your own nails when using acetone?

I find that it's all in the technique, if you can train your fingers to hold the pads or cotton properly, you shouldn't have any damage. I wrap the pad or cotton under the middle knuckle of my middle finger, holding it in place with my index and ring fingers. I find this gives me excellent...

    **Dilemma!!...Primer Problem!**

I've been using NSI L&P for a bit now and decided to do my toes this spring too...asked my distributor what she would recommend and she gave me some NSI one step that is being discontinued and said I could use my primer from my L&P, I don't see why you couldn't :)

    Desperately Seeking Nail Artist!

Calgary IS a great place Sheila, and I do wish you were here. Sometimes I feel like I'm the only tech in this town that even goes on-line. I'm an old fogey and just recently aquired an internet capable computer, when I got the internet I immidiately went on and joined every nail site I could...

    Desperately Seeking Nail Artist!

I have been looking for an experienced nail tech to do my nails forever! Because I am a thech myself, it is very difficult to bring myself to let someone else at my hands. I am a perfectionist and wouldn't wish me on anyone as a client. I'm not mean or nasty, I would never want to hurt someones...

Everything to do with nails is getting me down in the dumps!!!!

Whatever you do Danni, don't give up without a fight! It sounds like this is something you really want to do and learning at home is the most difficult way to do it. If you are that committed then don't give up after putting this much effort into it. My advice would be to talk to a few local...

Why is it so hard to file?

If it is traditional L&P then you may have success if you soak them in acetone. Although it can be very drying to the skin and cuticals, since it's a one time thing, your client should recover with proper care after. I use acetone on myself when switching sets, because I do it often and I can be...

    10yr old wanted fullset doing?

My apologies Geeg, the way your response was worded and the use of the quote led me to believe that it was directed at me in it's entirety. I'm sorry to hear of your thumb accident, perhaps because mine happened at such an early age it did not affect me as deeply. I do admit to being a little...
