Hi guys this is my first posting here after been lurking around for a while. I must say that this is a great resource and I am so thankfull that I found this site. I was educated in march back in Sweden and havent had so many clients but I focus on male waxing and I havent had any big problems until now.
I am currently in Turkey and have done a few chest and back waxings over here and most of them has gone well. But two of the guys got big time acne afterwards. They both where very hairy and it is extremely hot here so I guess that has something to do with it and these two boys didnt follow my advise about not going swimming, going to the gym etc. It was also the first time they ever got waxed.

One of the guys returned for a second wax and didnt have the same problem the second time so i dont think it is an allergic reaction. I am very careful here about cleaning because of the heat and the higher infection risk.

Does any of you guys have an idea how to prevent this from happening and what to do after it happend? How do I explain this to the clients?
This never happend in Sweden and my teacher never expirenced it.

I also want to know if there are more waxers living in Turkey?
Have a nice day
Tinha

Not following the aftercare you gave them will not help at all,
it is quite common for new clients of the back and chest wax to get pimples,
it is best if they can bring in a clean loose top with them to the appointment so they are not putting on the one they were previously sweating in,
and they can use an antiseptic wash (like teenagers use to avoid spots) when taking a shower to keep the area really clean and apply an antiseptic cream too, to help clear the area, hth

Thank you for replying and for your advice.

Yeah and I was very clear on the aftercare advice because I didn't want this to happen. I got a bit scared because this guy is totally covered in pimples now where he got waxed. It makes me look like a bad waxer and that is the last thing I want since I am trying to start a business here.

I will tell him about the antiseptic wash and cream and I hope it cools down in a few days.

this happened to me one time after waxing my eye brows just a few little white heads just popped up went again after a day or 2

It's quite normal for some and nothing you've done wrong. They should follow your aftercare advise and in addition to that, get them to use a dry brush to brush the waxed area before they shower.

Then they could apply something like an E45 cream. I tell them to use a body or face wash that's meant to clear spots or contains teatree.

By the way, it isn't acne. If they find it hasn't cleared after a couple of weeks, they should see their doc as it may have developed into Folliculitis and will need anti-biotics. xxx

Thanks for your answers and help. Yeah I think the guy has to go to the doctor because he doesn't listen and went to the gym again yesterday to sweat some more... He does everything I tell him not to do.
I brought a bottle of tea tree there and he used it up in one time so I can not help him anymore now.

Kim, what is E45? They don't have so much tea tree products over here and the small bottle of tea tree oil is so expensive and hard to find otherwise I would make creams myself.

I guess I have to find some kind of antiseptic cream here.

I know one thing though, I am not going to wax this guy again, he costs me a lot of money and he has given me a bad reputation at the gym.
This whole thing just makes me sad.

Hiya.

E45 ? I've copied the info below from the internet for you as it explains it very clearly.

"E45 Cream is by far one of the best creams available which successfully treats most skin conditions.

Doctors regularly recommend the cream if you complain of itchy, dry, peeling skin. It can even help to ease sunburn, and it protects the skin after it has been exposed to certain detergents.

If you suffer from Eczema you will know how irritating the condition can be, and the same applies with Dermatitis, Ichthyosis and certain cases of Psoriasis. The constant itching, the dry skin and the irritation can really be a nightmare, but E45 successfully eases all of the mentioned symptoms. It is not overly expensive and it does last quite a long time, especially if you buy the 500g tub! If you cannot find E45 in your local supermarket or chemist, you can get it on prescription from your doctor.

Overall E45 really is a magical cream for most skin conditions and results occur quite quickly too!"

I think you're right.....you really need to sack this client (get rid of him). He's already testing your patience and isn't a good ad for your brilliant work. Dump him!

Kim xx

Thanks for the info Kim. I doubt I will find it over here though. Pharmacy stuff I can find but creams like this is harder.

Update about the client, he was badmouthing me to my friend yesterday saying that I was no good because I was ripping the wax off to fast.. I guess he said the same thing to many others.

But like I said earlier, I will not have this customer again but my reputation is ruined amongst the bodybuilders and bodyguards here now thanks to him and they where my starting point here in Turkey.
Damage control needed but dont know how.
