Hi all

This is my first day on nail Geek!

I recently qualified in the gel Essentials course and am currently doing the Essentials acrylic course - this uses the Dream acrylic products and I wondered how they compared with other brands of acrylic that any of you use.

Also I am hoping to build up my own mobile service how would any of you suggest is the best way to do this -

thanks for any help you can offer

Congratulations and welcome to the site!

There are many wonderful l&p types on the market - my suggestion would be to call up the different suppliers in your area and ask for product samples. The technique is essentially the same, but each brand will set up a little differently. It takes time to find the one that really works for you.

Some examples of great l&p manufacturers are:

INM - International Nail Manufacturers
CND
Young Nails
Avolve - haven't tried this one myself - but Nailzoo does such beautiful work with it!

I have never heard of the brand you are learning with - but I am in Canada and your brand may be UK based. I use INM and I love it.

There are many, many more out there - these are just a few samples of the higher end products.

hey!!

I think everyone will have different opinions on different brands as there are so many!!
I use IBD, this is what i was trained in and i have to say i cant complain!!
But iv also heard amazing reviews on CND, and may be considering doing a conversion course to use there products!! :green:

Good luck! xx

I see that you are in Bournemouth, why dont you give layla a call or visit her for information at the Creative AcademyPplus in Bournemouth.

I use Aspire from sallys and DON'T think it is any good. The clear is NOT clear the pinkc is nice but it does not shap well and sets so fast it is hard to work with. BUT I am using it to practice on with dumy hands and stick nails till I start school. There are a few I want to try. CND for one the product I want to try. I have tried the Avolve that he uses at Nail Zoo and LOVED it. The cost is just to high for me to use for messing up with. I aslo can't buy it with out my papers ;).

Welcome to the site:hug:

I don't know what the Dream L&P is like but have used and taught with (against my better judgment!) Dream gel at college and have to say I really disliked it as it has far to runny a consistency for my liking.

Do a search on here for reviews of various products as different people will like different products but choose one with an excellent education reputation

I love Nfu.oh the most - great products. I also like Entity and EzFlow. These 3 brands are the best in my opinion:lol:

Thanks everyone - this is really helpful - will have to do bit of research and try some of these me thinks!

:)

I tried the Dream l&p a while ago. They are ok for a generic brand, but they are nothing compareed to top-end products. The colour fades or yellows over time and the thing I disliked the most is you have to etch the nail with a 180 grit file.
I got to know CND 10 years ago and eventhough I have tried other brands ez-flow, entity etc. I always find myself going back to CND, not because the other brands are bad, but CND suits me best, have outstanding education and customer-service and the products is reliable. I always know if something goes wrong I don't have to worry about whether it's me or the product, it's always me:green:, but then I learn how to troubleshoot on my own work....
But do as suggested and make some calls, talk to people and then decide:hug:

since i completed my training 6 yrs ago i have tried a few different products as i was never really satisfied with the results, then i did a creative conversion course in l&p and fell in love (sad i know!!) the training is second to none and there is always someone on the end of a phone if the need arrises. Everybody is different and you just need to find the right product for you, id say try some samples and see which one you like. I love the results i get now and can honestly say i will never go back. Good luck!!:)
