Adhering gems and embellishments?

Hi all, I’m new to this forum although have been a lurker for a few months!

Not found a recent thread on this topic in the search but really could do with some opinions on this...

How does everyone attach their embellishments and gems to gel polish nails??

I’m fine when doing acrylics or hard gel as I just use a small amount to adhere whatever I want to the nail.

However, i am wondering what everyone is using to attach/adhere gems and other embellishments to a gel polish manicure???

I’ve been using the same type of adhesive with which I attach the tips on my nail enhancements. I do this before the top coat. I then touch up around the embellishment with the top coat using a small brush.

I struggle to get some embellishments to last more than a week I obviously make the client aware that some embellishments won’t last the length of their polish.

I can get the tiny gems to last much longer but anything over around 5mm in diameter or size I just can’t get to last on my clients.

Can I ask what glue or method does everyone else use to get their embellishments to adhere?

There are lots of suggestion of various brand of adhesive, resins, gels and specific gem adhesives

I put “glue” “adhere” “embellishments” in my search and it brought up 4 threads- the most recent being 2016! Hahaahaa )!
I dont mind scrolling though- some of the best tips and ideas are often hidden, sandwiched in a thread about lint-free pads!! Looool

Thank you lovely I’ll look into both these things. Can I ask... do you apply these after the top coat or prior,, and then touch up around the embellishment with the top coat (as I currently do) xx

top coat as normal then wipe over with gel wipe off or acetone and then use a small amount then gel around them once completely dry xx

Ooo really?? I’ve always thought the shine of the top coat would somehow effect the adhesion.... guess if the adhesive is good enough it won’t matter. I’ll give this a go thanking you x

That's why you wipe it over first but no they stay for ages, if you're worried you can always buff that part then use the glue x

I use perfect nails glue gel, apply a small amount where you want your gems, then place gems and cure. They never budge! X
