Dear all,

i am new here, my name is marina and i am from russia, i live in china, i am planing to open a nails salon here in china, and i need advice from all of you how to start it and from where to get products, for example contact some famous brand in europe,
how to manage with staff, are they on salary or commission etc etc.

Will be thankfull for your great advice

I think you would benefit from some education by going on a nail course,
if you go on a good one they will be able to advise you on your other questions,
get some training before trying to operate a salon, hth

Finding a good educator in China is difficult. Most 'training' will consists of teaching you 'how to flick a enhancement off the nail.'

I am unsure as to where you can find good courses which will teach you the correct way, but if you do then the market in China is massive and you will certainly earn your dollars. I do understand that nails are the 'in' thing there at the moment, although most people are unware of the dangers caused by nail salons.

If you are lucky enough to find a good course and can somehow import european nail products to use then you will be ahead of the game. But this could work out to be a very costly and time consuming.

dear flower and laubylou

thanks for your advice, i have done my course last year from russia, but litle bit affraid to start in china, because its a diffrent market, but i am working on this matter everyday,

can you please advice how much it cost to open 30-40 m2 area,
also can you advice any european brand

I am a US citizen and moved to Cyprus 9 years ago to set up a nail salon in a country that
A. I did not speak the language
B. Was like u did not know where to get my products from.
Not to scare you but the first year I lost thousands of dollars using products I was not used to using and also because then I was only into acrylics and the techs here were using Fiberglass. This is a really long discussion seeing as now I am a wholesaler for many products I would suggest you contacting the company you are used to using and seeing if that company has a distributer in China. At least if the products you are using are familiar everything else will fall into place. There are loads of generic products out there (especially in China). Companies rush to sell to people like yourself who have just fallen off the boat. And you might get pushed into buying products you might not need.
Look at all your options. It might be safer to import your own products. Start up costs vary.

dear solomonikos

thanks for your advice, i think i need do more work on it before i start,

When you did your training in Russia was it with a college or a product house,
if you have trained with a certain product house like CND, NSI, OPI i would get in touch with your trainers and ask if they will supply you with products or if they have a distributor in china,

I think kinetics are a Russian brand so they may be one for you to contact as you will know the language, hth
