Hi there,

I am newly qualified, I am really badly allergic to acrylic and cannot use it when doing nails so I am only able to use gel.

So far I have been using Nubar uv gel which is a buff off system, I find it good but have been using it with white tips as it takes me so long to blend if I use the natural ones. Is gel ok to use with white tips?
My technique with white gel to create the tip is not perfect ,also on maintenance should I change the tips each time or re do a smile line with the white gel ?

Thanks

Hi there,

So far I have been using Nubar uv gel which is a buff off system, I find it good but have been using it with white tips as it takes me so long to blend if I use the natural ones. Is gel ok to use with white tips? If you are using a clear gel over a white tip then that is perfectly OK although I do recommend that instead of taking 'short cuts' you become professional learn to blend tips correctly. It took all of us a long time at first but you get much quicker with practise. If you don't learn how now you will never do it at all and sometimes you do need to .

My technique with white gel to create the tip is not perfect ,also on maintenance should I change the tips each time or re do a smile line with the white gel ? Again, you need to learn how to do these things. You need to be able to do a forever french rebalance using white gel. There are paint on varieties (easy) and there are sculpting gels in white (not as easy but you need to comes to grips with it.

Thanks
You can go though life always taking the easy route and not doing such a good job or you can learn to do each step of nail creation perfectly. One way and you will not be around for long ... take the professional route and you may just make yourself a business.

I hope this advice has been gratefully received!

Although there are some who do really well with sculpting and shaping a nail with acrylic or gel, there are also some who do excellent work using tips with acrylic and gel. Not one way works for everyone. There are some who can sculpt like nothing, but can't do application over a tip and visa versa. My advice is to find what works for you. The main key to anything is to practice, no matter what you do.

As far as doing fills on white tips you can remove tips and reapply, but that depends on how much you are going to charge your clients and how much they are willing to pay, because tips cost more. You can also just do an application of white gel, making sure that this doesn't make them look thick. And as previously mentioned a paint on white can be applied under the gel. This isn't always easy and takes practice like anything else. Getting a perfect smile line, no matter how you do it, requires you being comfortable with what products you are using and being confident.
