hi just had my website done www.hairgemz.co.uk I don't have a payment option on there at the moment (i just ask people to email me and i send them a paypal invoice..) this is ok but time consuming ..and not too professional..they can also send a cheque or postal order...but this is a pain for them and myself..
my web designer said a cart costs loads of money and then you need a system to take card payments....at the moment I'm not selling enough to make this viable..but then i look at other sites similar and they have carts....

whats the cheapest way of doing this..

I know when i shop online i prefer to pay straight away....
thanks again

I use Roman Cart and they have different levels which start I think at about £60 for the year. I have the Silver one where you can put in stock levels and it will tell the customer when something is out of stock but you might not need this option.

I have used it for several years and been very happy with it. I use it with Paypal and Google checkout.

thanks i will look into that, can you use this without having a credit card system ie just use it with a paypal payments....I suppose i will find this out when i go onto roman cart
thanks again

I dont have any other payment options except Paypal or Google checkout. You can set it up to take other payments too I think.

Paypal and Google Checkout are definitely the easiest payment options to integrate - and also don't charge a monthly fee (unlike most payment gateways from banks and other companies, e.g. SagePay, etc) - so would be (in my opinion) the best option for smaller businesses to take payment via shopping carts on their website etc.

Although do be aware that Google Checkout doesn't accept Maestro cards.
