As I am no longer doing my beauty therapy course due to unforseen circumstances and I have decided to do the ArtDeco make up course sometime this year. Looking at the information ArtDeco sent me they have 2 kits available:

  • Mineral Make Up Artist Kit
  • A kit that includes:
    • Mobile Make Up Artist Bag
    • Camouflage
    • Eyeshadow Palette
    • Professional Brush Set & Bag

Of the two mentioned above which is the most useful to have. It would be a lot of money to invest in both and I am worried that the make up would go off before I had chance to use it all up.

Also on a another note I got the Salon Sysyem S Make Up kit as part of the beauty therapy course college kit. What are peoples view on the quality of this kit, it looks ok but I am no expert where make up is concerned, not yet anyway! Would this be a good kit to practise application techniques so that the ArtDeco is saved for clients?

Thanks for your help

Hi Hun, I have both of these kits and they are brill. The colours are so great. I bought my own make up brush kit though, i will pm you with more info. If you wanted to pop over one evening i can show you what you get and you can have a play. Hope your feeling better today x x x

Oh that would be great, I'll pm you my contact details so that we can arrange something. I will have to wait a little while, maybe about 2 weeks till I get back on my feet again. Whenever is convenient for you is fine by me, I can't make Thursdays though as I have my nail tech course.

thanks hun :)

Hello! I have some similar questions to the original posters. I am doing a makeup course next month (very excited!) and i was wondering wether to purchase the kit they have for sale there (the Salon Sysyem S Make Up kit) Is this worth me purchasing as a good start up?

I will not be doing bridal makeup (no plans yet anyway) It will be make-over/ photographic makeup for photography studios.

I have some mac makeup, from my personal collection to add to it, but i am worried about the cost of foundations, lipsticks etc, as so many colours are needed? Am i best to get the Salon system, or spend that money investing in better brands?
Any advice would be so greatly appreciated :)

Thank you

well the art deco rep came to see me yesterday and all i can say is wow, really helpful said they can put me a kit together to suit my budget and what i will hopefully be doing i got to paly with the makeup too. I have never rated mineral makeup until yesterday and i am super impressed i always thought it was dry and ugly with no nice colours, this is not the case. I think i will be getting a mainly mineral kit with a few extras such as the bronzer that they dont have in the kit and a few lip glosses and mascara and maybe a couple of the liquid foundations.

As for the cheap salon systems kits, i would not waste my money, if they can put you together such a good kit why waste that money on the college kit? i was thinking of doing this until i saw the quality of the art deco stuff, im obviously going to add a few other bits of mac, benefit, dior etc but really not needed with what they are going to do for me,

my advice get the rep out they are there to help and the skincare she showed me was fab too.

i want everything i was like a kid is a sweet shop hehe.

anyway she is going to call today to go over things and i will get training on the 15th hopefully maybe the 8th if they can fit me in.

Hi there
I'm new to this site. I'm currently training NVQ 2 in gel nails with make-up.
I want to be able to offer makeovers as it's something that I love, and will be qualified in. You mention above that Art Deco offer training. Is that something that is part of purchasing their kit or do you pay for the training? I'm really interested in buying products that are going to last and give customers the wow factor!
What sort of prices are you looking at for a kit - the college beauty kit I think retails at about £99?
Thanks for any help.
