Hi Jo Louise

I am new here too but do know about the Essex School of Beauty - if you mean the one in Canvey Island. Personally I would not recommend them especially for doing a nail course. I did a couple of other courses with them but the courses are very much "crash courses" and you just do not come away with enough information at the end of them. Plus they are not particularly cheap!

I would steer clear of this type of college myself in the future. Although you do get a certificate at the end of the courses it is not really a proper qualification but just allows you to get insurance to work. I am going to be doing a Gel Course end of March at the Phoenix School of Beauty in Chelmsford, Essex. I was quite impressed with it although haven;t started the course yet but the course is for 7 weeks for 3 hours in the evening and you can go on to do Fibre Glass and Acrylic and get the City & Guilds (I think!) qualification in all 3.

I think most beauty courses at colleges are very basic and such a waste of money- I really regret doing my level 2 nail treatments course at college, I dont feel that I have learnt anything I was very disappointed.

I think for specialist areas like beauty/nails you need to go to a professional school or private training

sorry darlin, cant help you with that one, tho im sure plenty of the other geeks could put you in the right direction
