About as far South as you can get!
Just wanted to share :green:

I got my Berins from Collin on Tuesday and had a little dabble with it yesterday, couldn't see how I was going to get along with it as I found it soooo different from the strip wax I have been using.

I was going to chicken out today and carry on using my strip wax (which I have been using with good effect) so had two wax pots on for 2 ladies, one wanted 1/2 leg (my reason for having the warm wax pot on :)), bikini & u/arms and the other wanted high bikini. I didn't chicken out! I thought s*d it, I've bought it and I'm not going to get better with it being sat warming nicely in the heater.

It was fantastic, (although I've come out in a strange rash on my wrist? I always test wax on my wrist)

Bit stringy at times but other than that (and my inability to use gloves with it) it was great :green:

I would like to know if anyone would know why I came out in a rash (more like two little bruises now)? And why it was so stringy as I've not of heard this before, and I've never used hard waxes, and also if there is a technique to it so I can use gloves with it as I hate not wearing them (especially with intimate waxing). :)

The stringy part is also what makes it stay flexible, the polymere or the plastic part of the formulation. If you wave the spatula back and forth really close to the strip you just applied you will break that string. The bruising on your inner wrist is cause oil wasn't applied first and you are pulling the skin!

If you leave a good portion of the wax unmelted in the pot and you don't stir it and you take the wax from the top/side so that it forms kind of a ball on your spatula that doesn't drip quickly your temp is fine. When you learn what the wax looks like at the right temp you will no longer need to test.

Thanks for that Lori :)

I was waving the wax round over the wax I had just applied, I think my client thought I was a loony, lol! Lucky she is a regular!

So, I need a kind of 'island' of wax in the middle and dip from the outside of the tin.

Those words again, practice, practice, practice! :green:

Thanks again. x

I bought a berins wax starter kit and The Whole Ball of Wax dvd at the show in manchester. I hadn't used non strip wax since training at college over 8 years ago. over the last week i hav been using the non strip wax on myself and every waxing client that has come through my door. Ive got to say i love it. have been a bit nervous using it and treatments have taken longer but im sure with practice this will improve. It was very helpfull watchin the dvd (twice so far) and ive picked up some good techniques. I am unable to wear gloves also and did have a few blue strings hanging around although they were easily removed. Going to keep practicing. Am i right using oil pre wax apart from on the face and do you use anything on the face pre wax?

Ive just bought a berins kit too. With the speed waxing DVD. Any hints and tips welcome too.

Very scary doing brows with non strip wax, dont know why. Im telling all my clients about the new wax and that its kinder to their skin. So far all my clients willing to let me practice on them. Great results on under arms, no tweezing necessary and leaves skin on bikini area smooth and clean but really need to practice flicking up the end before removal and applying the strip past the hair growth so that when i flick ready for removal the wax isnt attached to and pulling the hair, does this make sense? Have been waving the spatula back and forth to eliminate strings, this works well. Try wearing a glove on the hand thats holding the skin and use that same hand to apply pre and post wax oil, don't wear a glove on the hand that you hold the spatula in and flick the wax strip with? ? For me its been well worth buying the dvd as i can refer back to it as many times as i like and try to master a good application and removal technique. Practice, practise, practise!

It sounds like you are all doing quite well. Scary to do brows with hard wax at first but when you get the hang of it, really nice as it doesn't spread at all underneath the cloth. To get the edge everywhere but the face carry the strip to a hairless area beyond the part you are waxing. This way when you are holding the skin tight and flicking the edge you aren't pulling hair up and it doesn't hurt the client at all. On the face or in between some areas where you have to start in hair, hold the skin really tight, use a free edge of your thumbnail or fingernail and FLICK. Nice and strong, nothing delicate!!!

good luck, watch the DVD more than once. Work for awhile and watch it again. OH, and correct to use pre dep oil everywhere but the face.

well I have a starter kit to practice with just need a hairy person to practice on lol!

Got the dvd 2 and love love love it:lol: Lori is def the wax queen the way she works and explains things is just amazing:)

The plastic spatulas are for use with berins ease wax not the non strip waxes,
just use the berins wax off equipment cleaner to get them nice and clean again hth

You can also apply a little of the Jasmine oil onto a wax strip and use this to wipe off any residue on the spatula, your equipment and it also is a useful way of removing any small bits of wax left on the skin.
Works a treat

Maybe I can help here.

the large spatula is for use with the strip wax and shouldn't be used with the blue where wooden disposable spatulas would be used..

Are you perhaps referring to the small spatula...if so this is for the non strip wax for defined work...eyebrows etc.

The hard wax is quiet hard to get off the spatula....try and scrape clean while the wax is warm and remove the remainder with the Jasmine oil on a wax strip...it will come off.

Maybe even try wiping the spatula with a liberal amount of Jasmine oil before dipping.

i would wrap a fabric strip around it and put it in the microwave for a few seconds to get the most of it off,
then you can get the rest off with the oil or remover hth

If I'm correct in thinking that you've used your strip wax spatula with your non strip wax by mistake, then try this:-

Put the spatula back in the heated wax until the majority of the wax has melted off the spatuala. Quickly wipe clean with a strip. Then either spray the spatula with solvent or do what I do. I have an new wax tin full with solvent all of the time and chuck my metal spatula's in it as I use them. At the end of the day when I remove them, they have no wax on them at all, so I wipe them dry, then clean and sanitise in the usual way. the solvent hardly ever has to be topped up and is purely to remove excess wax and not for cleaning. xxx
