I am looking to invest into skincare products..I am 24 years old and am thinking about Olay skincare products...thought Id ask the experts on here if this is a good choice of skincare for my skin?

come one now ladies help a sista out

The problem here Classynails is that us skin care geeks work in a professional environment and work with professional branded products so you wont find many of us that will recommend an over the counter product like Olay.

I think you may also get more people responding if you change the area you live on your profile (to at least the country you live in) as until people get to know you and know where you are from it would be difficult to recommend products that we know are available to you. Plus there was only a short amount of time in between each of your posts above and as it was the middle of the night for most of us (if UK based) then few people would have seen your thread.

Please dont take offense as I am trying to help you forward.

edit to add: There are hundreds of threads on here if you do a search where we discuss the different brands of skin care available.

hiya classy nails.

If you are asking questions about yourself personally and not about a brand for your salon, you would get more assistance if you had put this in chitchat.

skin geek is for professional discussion not personal use.

Hope that helps hun.

I too have read your profile, I am a bit unsure it says not a nail, skin or hair geek.

My advice is to go to a good salon near where you live ???with a good rep and ask their advice. Start with a facial too.

Hello therd

I would recommend Eve Taylor with is a Professional skin and body care range.

I have recently had a client who has had SUNBED DAMAGE over the years and her skin is now really red and dried up.

she has been coming to me for a couple of weeks now and the results are already noticable.

This range of skincare is FULL of Essensiol oils that are very gentle on the skin.
Some skin care products just dont have the right approach, OLAY I relate that to me mum and grannies lol...the over the counter products.

Need to get yourself a PROFESSIONAL RANGE might be a bit more on the wallet but looking after yours or anybody elses skin is the most important.

Sorry I was unware I thought since I have a ? about skin care I should post here thanks for the reply and none taken:)

What I would suggest is to find a reputable salon, and go and ask a qualified therapist for advice. I'm sure Olay is ok, but if you want better than 'ok' then you really need professional products, as they will give much better results than most things you can buy from Boots or Superdrug. It's also better to see a professional to find out what will really suit your skin, If you're not qualified, it's all too easy to buy products which you think are ok, but aren't really best suited to you. I should know, I've done it myself! :)

Hope you find what you need!

Do you work in the beauty industry at all? If so what do you do? We'd love to know.

Though I am no skin expert, I am sure most skin geeks would back me up on reiterating that without a proper consultation in person by a properly trained professional, you will never get true value for your money.

Furthermore consumer products are designed for mass audience appeal and application without the need for a qualified consultation which generally means that while it may be a great product for all around use an mass appeal, it certainly will not be able to do as powerful of a job that a tailor made professional solution will. This doesn't just go for skin care, it is pretty equivalent in hair care and nail care.

When you 'dumb down' the performance of a product in order to make it work on as many people as possible without the need of a consultation, you water down its general effectiveness.
