Hi, when doing a french overlay, can i replace the final layer of clear gel with s gel. or do i use s gel as well as?

many thanks!

With french you can either use the sealer gel as the final layer or use S Gel and cure for 4 minutes.

I dont use the clear gel at all for the last layer.

does curing the s gel for 4 mins make it very shiny? so do i need to apply a top coat after?

thanks!

In theory the 4 minute cure does make it more shinier, but I still do apply a top coat of polish - this adds more shine in my opinion and can be removed and re-applied after a few days/week to keep the gel looking fresh.

Because the polish is applied on top of gel it dries really really quick anyway.

How are you finding working with the S gel Helen?

I havent used it before, but a fellow friend technician recommended it. Have just tried it on my own nails so we shall see!
Do you find they last better, it makes them stronger?

what do you like about it?

It all depends on the client and the situation.

I only use it if I need to build additional strength into the nail by re-enforcing the apex. This is mainly when I sculpt or need to improve the shape of the nail.

It does take longer to soak off though so I dont use it for the sake of it. It files and buffs better than the clear, colour or sealer gels though so if I know I need to refine the shape then I use the S gel.

What does bug me about it is when the pot is starting to get a little low the workability of the product on the nail doesnt smooth out as well so I only stick to ordering the small jars.

Did you cover S gel on your training?
