Ive been spray tanning for a few months now and have been doing well, the tans are turning out brill....apart from the hands!! The hands are going pure dark! I spray tanned sum1 last nite and she came to me today and there was a dark patch of tan on the palm of her hand!! I am using barrier cream and dont understand why this is happening as i have purposly spreaded lightly over the hands to avoid this. I dont no what happened with last nites client..could she have touched another part of her body and got tan there that way or is it something i am doing? As anyone had similiar problems when tanning hands? Please leave any advice as this has really knocked my confidence.

Hi, i have a tan remover wipe that when ive finished spraying i hold it and get the client to rub their hands back and forth to ensure there is no tanning solution on their palms. I advise them to try not to touch, but this doesnt always happen especially if you have sprayed in the evening and the client goes to bed and lies on their hands. If you are double checking that their palms are clear before they leave you then it will be all down to the client touching. Dont loose confidence when it is something that you cannot always control, you cannot be held responsible for something that the client does when they have left you. HTH

If clients are sleeping in their tan then it is possible that they are touching themselves during the night.
I advise my clients to wear little cotton moisturising gloves in bed if they have had an evening appointment.

I would agree that this seems to be the problem here......

Sometimes getting the customer to simply apply a relatively heavy moisturiser to the palms of their hands before climbing into bed can resolve the issue well enough
