hi all

Just received a text from my freind who says she has just had botox from a freind who is a beauty therapist/nurse ?????

Do Beauty therapist normally administer botox as all the salons that advertise this service normally have a visiting DR.

please can you advise me on this

Legally, a doc has to prescribe Botox but yes, a nurse can administer Botox. It's a bit of a grey area as I think that legally, the doc should do a consultation with the client. I may be wrong so let's see what the geeks have to say. xxx

Mine has always been with a doc. There's a lot of new laws about this and beauty therapists can't administer it at all but nurses can I think.

Yes your right, botox must be prescribed by a DR. I'm also nearly sure that legislation is out recently that states, it must also be injected by a Dr. I think previously nurses have been doing it, but I think this is a change in the law.

In Australia Botox is usually administered by a registered nurse or DR.

Botox has to be prescribed by a Doctor but may be administered by a nurse who has current registration. (A nurse has to regain registration every three years). I do believe the regs are getting tighter though.

Hiya,

If you are a registered nurse RGN you can administer botox, ONLY under the supervision of a GP..who will assess your clients after you have consulted them and precribe a prescription for you to obtain the Botox formula.

Beauty therapists can inject fillers, if they are NVQ level 3 or alternative..there are only a few GP's whowill train them and there are no guarentees that you can obtain insurance (and you are only allowed to use there products)???????????????not sure it's a good thing either
