I had a client in today that I have been practising l & p on quite successfully so today I thought we would have a go at the brisa gel. She tried to soak the l & p off herself but didn't get it all of so when she came in I tried to buff off wh.at was left but still don't think I got it all off. But anyway I buffed until I had most of it of and no edges, that took an hour.
I then continued to do the brisa application which went well enough since it was only my third set. I was a bit frustrated that the white gel didn't look even but hopefully practise will help. The thing that annoyed me the most was when I put the gel top coat on and placed it under the light it shrunk up the nail and there were some gaps on the nail where it had separated almost like oil and water kind of thing. Is this because there was some l & p left on the base or some other reason?:irked::irked:

The surface to which you apply your Finishing Gloss should be pre buffed with nothing finer than a 180 grit buffer and completely free of all dust and oils from your fingers etc. If not, you will get what you have described with any top coat gloss.
  • Buffing with the correct grit.
  • Free of oil and contaminants
  • Absolutely dry
  • Remember to cap the free edge.
Nothing different here to any other comparable gel. This is basic information.

In addition to the above by Geeg I would also just make sure you are not applying the Top Gloss too thin....I have found its better to float the gel on, not brush it on like enamel.

Instead of starting a whole new thread to have the same question answered, I'll just add my issue here. I've recently switched from IBD to Brisa with the Cut the Cord deal and am liking it....but I am having the same sort of issue with the top gloss. Sometimes it works beautifully, and sometimes it does not. Today I applied it over a set of acrylic nails and every single nail had these matte spots all over it. Almost like it wasn't cured all the way and I removed some of the gloss. But I used a 180 grit file...the lamp/gloss/everything is only 2 weeks old...used half a dozen times, so nothing is old. I applied thickly enough I believe, same amount as when it DOES work....and the nails were not touched after I filed, so no oils were on the nail. I am hearing that scrubfresh BEFORE top gloss works, so maybe I'll give that a try. But why is it that sometimes it's fine and then like today, it's worse than ever? I had to file it all off and go back to my Intense Seal because the client felt more comfortable with that because that's what we have been using.

I always use a little scrubfresh before using the Brisa Top Gloss...just for peace of mind that there are no oils on the nails....you only need a little and a good scrub...I think you might find this helps.

I agree with Angie and would stress her previous comment about not applying too thin, floating it on is a perfect description.
