I am using a size 10 brush and its fine until i get to zone 3 (still having zone 3 issues) , Then i am finding it akward to use, so doe sanyone have any tips or advice for me re size of brush?

Should i try going down a few sizes and see if that helps?

Also does anyone have a supplier of brushes they like ? Not expensive please as I am liable to need to replace it often as am only newly qualified, though its been 3 weeks and i havent killed my first brush yet, but its too long and stabs me in the **** (have large chest) so i could do with one that has a short barrel.

thank you

I would guess that it is not the size of the brush you are using, but the lack of space you are working in with it!

Make sure your zone 2 bead does not cover more than half the visible nailplate ... this will leave you with a nice space in which to put your zone 3 bead without being 'cramped'. Your brush will be just fine if you do this.

I read somewhere that when your finish at the end of the day.Clean your brush an Put clear polish on your bush. When u get ready to use it dip it in remover not acetone. An go about your business. It's suppose to help keep the shape. Maybe someone can comment on this

My comment would be that it would be a very foolish thing to do from a contamination point of view and also it will substantially shorten the life of your brush. A brush is HAIR. Imagine what your hair would look like in a very short time if you did this to it?? No no.

The only help a brush needs to keep it in shape and lasting for a long long time is to clean it in clean monomer and shape it with a lint free pad and put it away in a proper brush case and lie it flat between uses.

You've been given some really good advice, here. The only thing I can add is do not buy inexpensive brushes. (I've learned the hard way...)

It's better to have one really good quality, expensive (and expensive is a relative term) brush than buying several cheaper ones. The better quality brush you buy, the longer it will last you and the fewer you will have to buy. Good luck! :)

I also read that some people use a size 22 brush an also one ball. Everyone have there own style. that's why i love this site. You can ask question an get all kinds of answers.

gigi thank you for that advice, ill practise that and I think that might be where i am going wrong as I do leave about a third of the nail left for zone 3 , so will leave more.

I have been taught as gigi says about cleaning the brush.

I get what you mean about brushes, I was just thinking of not buying a very expensive one (£50+) until I feel that I do so without ruining it. they sell this lovely pink one that comes in its own case where i have been training, I SO want it, its so pretty . But I am resisting temptation until I feel confident about it.

thank you everyone for your replies. You are all so helpful and nice.

:) All that glitters is not gold, remember!!

Because it is pink and pretty doesn't make it great.

I think 30-40 pounds is a more than ample price to pay for an excellent brush .. any more is so not worth it. Just not necessary. You can decorate your own brush case if you feel the need and put a great CND brush in it!! lol

thats very true. and very good advice too. I do have some gorgeous swarovski crystals and could decorate the case with them! off to find my glue and crystals and decorate to my hearts content.

If i wanted a cnd brush, where can i get them from? am i allowed to buy cnd proucts as i have not done my cnd conversion course yet (8th dec) and am very excited about it too!

If you are a trained technician (which you are) then you can buy everything CND (from Sweet Squared just by calling 0845216060 and registering with them .. which you can do before your conv. course) at this point apart from the L&P and Brisa gels. This goes for all trained technicians who hold a certificate of training. After the 8th you can get anything you need and welcome to the CND family of great technicians. Have fun decorating your case and FYI ... the CND brushes are designed to work best with CND monomers. YOu get a great brush (The Prostyler) in your pro kit when you convert.
