Hi all

In your experience what causes a buff off gel to chip at the free edge eg. a grench where the white chips off completely?

the gel... if you've bought it long time ago...
the lamp, for how long have you been using the same bulbs?
do you use the lamp and gel of the same brand?
Did you sue the recommanded cleaner?

Not capping....and not doing the gel thick enough...or too thick, also clients being to heavy handed or having them in their mouths.

If the gel is only chipping at the free edge and the rest of the gel is adhered and fine then your bulbs should be fine.

i was thinking the same thing as bagpuss (angie).
i would think if it was the bulbs then it wouldnt just affect the free edge so are you capping all the edges?

hi all. Yip I am kapping the free edge properly. I am using a bio lamp with Nail affair gel which I was told by them is totally fine. They normally use a 9watt but say bio is just fine. any other ideas

When I started off with a buff-off I had chipping too. As suggested, I was applying too thin.

I switched to a white builder gel, rather than POW. I find it easier to encapsulate the free edge with the builder. I also needed to build up the sidewalls a bit more, and no more chipping.

Nail affair gel has soak off and buff off and say its fine to put first layer of soak off then follow with buff off do you think this has somthing to do with it

Wouldn't have thought so, I ahve done the same (on my own nails) with Bio and Akzentz and had no problems

I have had this over tips....I think some tips are more flexible than the gel and they seperate and chip. Are you using it over tips or sculpts and NNO?
