hi

I was working in a salon for about 9 months there and we never done a consultation for any treatment. I thought this was a bit strange. the owner was never there and there was only 3 of us working in it, with no manager or anything.

I have now left the salon and am working for myself, what i am afraid of now is that im not asking the right questions for consultations. all my college notes have been lost as i have moved house so dont know where they are at this time. i wanted to know if anyone could help me out on consultations or where to find an example for all treatments?

i have a small idea of what i need to ask for treatments but i just want to double check. i am actually still in shock how unprofessional the salon was i worked in and if anything had of went wrong they wouldn't have a leg to stand on. im still trying to get it into my head to do consultations.

i hope someone can help me out thanks

Hi hun if you pm me all the treatments you do and ill pm you back with consultation questions, then you could set them up on microsoft word and print them out for your clients to fill in.

As you always need a signiture off the client before any treatment.

I dont do any of the other treatments you mentioned.

Hope i helped x

ok thats brilliant hunni thank you so much! that has refreshed my mind so much.

Just to clarify for you hun, contra indication does not mean you can not perform the treatment. It just means that you may have to altar the way you do the treatment. And you may need to ask further questions.
For example an elderly person who is on warvarin (sp) is fine for a pedicure but you should not do a massage and must be very careful to use an old file to soften the edges of any new file you might use.
A diabetic who is under control, ie their blood sugar is normally no lower then 4.5 and no higher then 8.5 is fine to treat and you should ask them if they have any loss of sensitivity in hands or feet and if they do use cooler water then you usually would for mani/pedi work and pay special attention to the soles of the feet for any discolouration or cuts etc if found you should tell the client to visit their doctor.
Please do not get caught up in the whole, 'I won't treat this client with out a doctors note', better is if you have questions speak to your practice nurse and ask her what is safe and what isn't:hug:

Hi,
You could do just one consultation card,

Name;
Address;
email address;
Tel home/ mobile;
Any medical conditions;
medication taken;
D.O.B;
Signature;

On the back of the card;
Date treatment notes*

* this could be where you make notes of nail varnish colour, or medical changes, notice of change in skin/ nails, date you carried out patch tests etc...

I hope this helps, I find it easier to have 1 card per person.

Love Emma x:hug:x
