hi ..

last week tues i did sum1 nails this client is a friend of my friend..i charged her £15.. cheap i know..
i got a phone call at 11pm thurs, saying "i went in the bath and my nails have come off i want my money back".. Im like not being funi acrylic nails just dont fall off kuz you've had a bath, therefore i can offer u anothr set..but she dint want a another set just her money back which i refused to give after i spoke to some1 abt it and they she was pulling a fast 1..

What do u guys fink?

Im still getting calls from her saying she wants her money back, but i dont feel like i should but then i dont want a bad reputation either..and if i do give her money back then how many others are going pull a fast one and ill have to give the money back.

My products are really good i like them as ive problems with other products b4. all together ive done about 30-40 sets and never had any come back to me saying that..

What shall i do?

Sorry to hear that hun, but the advice i've learnt off here is this ............ even if you do give her a refund, then she will still bad mouth you!

Ask her why she is so insistent on the refund and why she doesn't want them re-done. Did you tell her that you need to see her nails first? How many, has she claimed to have "just come off"?

If you are confident that you did a good job and were happy with her nails when she left, then I personally would stick to my guns.

Also, I DON'T take phonecalls after 7pm at night!

Let us know how it goes.

xx

two had supposedly fell off wen she got out the bath so i sed ill re do those ones then apprently anova two fell as she sat down or sumat sounds ridiculous but this is what she told me..then she picked the rest off.. then i said kuz u havent shown me your nails n refuse a free set i refuse to give our money back as you've picked the rest off..i was really upset as its happened the 1st time n it is a smack in the face.

i am going to stick to my guns n not give her money back as she still used my products n i was very confident that i did a good job..

i answered my phone kuz i got woried sumat had happened to someone as my m8s bro got stabbed lastweek i dint reconise the num so i answered it...

i did speak to a salon about this and they sais she obv wanted her nails doing for a day or two n then made up a story so she can get her money back and i personalli think she might be doing it so she can get her money back and knows im gulable and will give but in business there aint no excuses..

Do u think im right to be doing what i am?

You are totally right! Stick to your guns! If she truly has a problem, she would have come back to the salon right away and shown you. Never do free repairs after 24 hours have passed. Post a sign!

Hi baby, i think your right not to give money back, i mean u were fair enough to offer another set free of charge, and u did use your products on her, not to mention your time!! its so disheartening when your faced with this, i am only new to nails myself and i done a girls nails on saturday, and got a text tonight that she wanted to see me straight away, so i went down to her and one of her thumb nails had supposedly 'popped off' while she was at a meeting, then she said they were all peeling, i could see that she had been picking at them, and i heard afterwards that she had filed them, i offered to fix them for her but she wanted the whole lot taken off, i was gobsmacked as i have not had any problems with anyone else i had done...but i wouldnt of given her money back if she asked, the way i seen it was i took them off for free...sorry for goin on but i know how u feel...u did the right thing!! x

hi. I'm still heartbroken I can not seem to get over what has happened but it has made me alot cautious now. i have made some slips up saying basically overlay method is the same as others and my products are good therefore no refunds and i get them to sign n i keep on and they keep one..

but atleast ive got good news from 22nd - 25th im fully booked up ive got atleast 10 clients if not more as some havent confirmed a appointment yet..so bring it on

by the way thanks everyone for commenting on my post x

A brilliant nail technician friend of mine who has been dong nails, for 20 years mind you, was telling me last night, that just yesterday she had a client come in to her packed salon demanding her money back because her gel nails had chipped and cracked at the free edge (which they had actually!)

Here's the story .. the girl came in with very weak and damaged natural nails. Said she wanted gel. My friend advised her against it as a natural nail overlay for nails in the condition they were in saying, they would surely crack and chip and gave her a few other alternatives ... NO NO she insisted on having a gel overlay. 2 weeks later she waltzes in to my friend's packed salon demanding her money back because her gel nails had chipped and cracked at the free edge!! She was pretty much told nicely that it was just not going to happen lol.

The moral of the story is that you have to get used to things like this! TWENTY years a nail tech, most successful salon on the Costa Blanca and Spanish Champion and someone still has the nerve to come in and ask for their money back?? Please.

My guess is that this girl has gone to every salon in town and complained and got her money back (probably why her nails were as trashed as they were) and this is how she affords to get them done. Life in the nail business hunni.

Hi.
20 Years is alot of experiance in handling people like that ive only just strated out your friend must be strong enough to say no now, i find it very difficult to say no to a dog let alone a human lol..
but all that is going to change because if i want to be succesfull i need to be strong and be able to say NO!

In actual fact i feel alot better after reading about your friends story its made me realise that the client is not always right..

Thanks

One thing I always tell my clients (even after 25 yeas) is that they are leaving the salon with perfect nails and THAT is down to me .. I tell them that from the moment they leave, what happens to their nails is down to THEM. I know my job, now their job is to look after what I have created for them.

Every new client gets told this and that we are a partners in keeping their nails looking 'spot on'.. You will get very few complainers if you state your case to them from the word go .. hand them an aftercare card and make their next appointment.

This is my worst fear which is why after nearly 2 years I am still not offering my services for money. However my hairdressers are opening a beauty salon upstairs and there may be a possibility of me renting a space as they want to do nails. Reading what you have said Geeg has made me realise that this sort of thing will happen whatever and doing what you say, stating your case from the off makes perfect sense and has given me the confidence to go for it! Thanks!:D

Hi hope you got her sorted xx She soons like a right one, I am too new to nails but have already printed off loads of after care sheets to hand out at the end of appointments to advise people how to look after them xx
Why not buy some, create them yourself or google them there is lots out there xx
