So last night i had a client and when she removed her hand from the lamp only one side of each nail had cured, i checked the lamp and only 2 bulbs on one side were switching on. I checked my bulb life and had 64 hours left, weird. I switched the bulbs anyway and it seems to be the lamp as same thing happened. Had to remove the clients shellac and she went home. New client too really doesnt look professional!

Rang sweet squared this morning as lamp is still in warranty to be told i have to send the lamp back to them and if it shows theirs a fault with my lamp they will send me a new one. I have a huge event on fri and sat this week which i explained. It seems a few people have had the same problem with this lamp so is clearly a known fault.

I asked the lady on the phone if i could send it next day delivery today, call them with the tracking number when i got back so they could track this online to see it had indeed been sent and send me a replacement out today. The answer was no and that if i pay for next day delivery i wouldnt be refunded for my postage, they only cover the costs for 1st or 2nd class standard post. I dont feel comfortable sending a lamp of this value to them with no insurance! The postage costs i can swallow to be honest but not having to wait for a replacement lamp!

Bit gutted now as have to cancel fridays big event but om hoping ill have it in time for saturdays!
Feel like their is no trust from s2 in their customers and has just sealed the deal for me in that i shall be switching to gelish as i dont feel the supplier has any sympathy in the fact im trying to run a business.

This is getting ridiculous. When I first read of the problems (last summer) I felt a little sympathy for S2. My opinion at the time was that these things happen and it must be awful for everyone concerned.
We are now a year on and the same fault is still happening. By now I would have expected a recall or at least a no quibble exchange at the first sign of trouble.
Shocking customer service.

Do you know anyone local to you who you could perhaps borrow a lamp from?

Oh no not another lamp gone :( I've just switched to Gelish as well but for other reasons. Quite a few are converting now because of this problem. Touch wood my lamps been ok but after reading all these threads my confidence is slowly weaning in the product. I'll be buying my gelish lamp tomorrow in the vat free day x

Yes absolutely gutted just cost me £20 to return the lamp. To be frank if i had the option i would just tell them to refubd me and not bother with the lamp as im not sure how long i get warranty with this new lamp im going to be sent. No customer care at all. I am now sending in a complaint and will send a conplaint directly to CND also regarding their distributor.

No unfortunately the 2 girls i know who are also nail techs have lamps bit they are gelish lamps so wont work for me as im currently ising shellac :( ive lost all respect now not just after this but a few other issues also so will be taking my money over to nail harmony from now on

I posted my lamp back to them this morning with a 48 hour delivery luckily I have a cheap lamp as back up (proving to be a god send as I am on lamp number 4) but its annoying that we can't have a replacement sent out especially when mine is the same issue with each lamp.

Another annoyance for me is when I got sent a copy of my refund request it clearly states lamp out of warranty - the first one i bought in April 13 is out of warranty but this 4th one was December 13 so not so surely - hey ho lets hope it gets sorted!

Can you get a cheapy one from amazon to tide you over for Saturday, I know they say full system etc. but when needs must? It will be a shame to miss your event. xx

Mama yes you are right i think any sane person would expect their to be a no quibble exchange. S2's argument was that they need to receive the lamp back to make sure id done nothing to invalidate the warranty at all. In other words they have another lamp that is showing the common fault and rather than do the right thing an replace it they will try to find a reason to invalidate the warranty

Sorry to hear your lamp has died too hun :( has it had the same fault as mine?

Im going to pop down to salon services later and buy a gelish kit, i was thinking about switching anyway and this has sealed it for me and that way i can still work on fri and sat. Have had to cancel a hell of a lot of appointments today and tomorrow (lots of holiday makers wanting their nails done!) also i know if i ever have an issue with my gelish lamp i can use the cnd one as a back up as can be used with both systems, shellac your limited to 1 lamp! Pain in the bum.

Hopefully s2 will stop taking their customers for granted and realise that if pushed people will go elsewhere!

I hope your lamp gets sorted soon and you dont have any issues with your warranty x

Not another! Shocking. So glad I do Gelish.

exactly the same problem as yours each time x

I was told by s2 on the phone today when i asked why they keep selling these lamps when their clearly not fit for purpose that "with any electrical item sold their will always be a small amount that are faulty". Well if i were told this prior to buying the lamp i wouldnt have wasted my hard earnt cash and being such a well known company you would think they would recall the lamps and not sell another until this fault has been dealt with! As for a small amount, i think they need to recalculate how many faulty lamps they have had returned in the last 12 months

Another CND lamp died? Shocker. This is a S2 owned forum, why aren't they addressing this? I was going to start buying in shellac, but not after this debacle.

And, hun, contrary to what they say, shellac cures in other UV lamps xx

Its happened to me a few times and they've always sent one straight out before I've returned faulty one! I'd rimg back in the morning and not take no for an answer!

Yeah, but using one creates a problem. CND has put professional nail techs in a serious bind. If they do what CND says and continue to use the (possibly faulty) CND lamp, they may be putting their clients in jeopardy; it's hard to justify continuing to use a lamp with this many problems. On the other hand, if they don't use the CND lamp, or use another lamp while their CND one is being repaired/replaced, they are not within the manufacturer's instructions and are at jeopardy themselves insurance wise. They are between a rock and a hard place - put there by CND.

This is ridiculous. Oh I'm sorry a small amount of electrical items will be faulty, who even says that?! Imagine sony or Samsung saying that! x

So just spoke to s2 and the lamp did have a fault so they ate sending me a new one out today, refunded me half the postage i paid and no extended warranty. If on the likely chance my lamp does go in the next 12 months i will be contacting them for a replacement and if it isnt replaced i would go to trading standards, as i would recommend to anybody that has an issue with an "out of warranty" lamp. I spoke to trading standards this norning and they have said to me if the lamp breaks in the next 12 months despite if its out of warranty s2 would not have a leg to stand on as its an ongoing fault that is widely publicised across forums and the internet, if i took the lamp to a specialist to have a look at and he confirmed it was a technical fault and not due to misuse, neglect etc the company will have to repair, replace or refund the lamp by law

Hey lovely, glad you are getting a new one sent out - they won't get mine until tomorrow :-( Why are you only getting half your postage back?

Thanks for the info from Trading Standards fingers crossed the dodgy batches are gone - don't think I could stand it for a 5th time xx

Also meant to say I disagree that these new lamps don't come with a warranty is it our fault we have had dodgy ones? Each lamp should start its 12 months again x

Yes they should, the customer service is just poor. Hope its sorted for you tomorrow so you should get your new lamp monday?
They only refund up to £10 postage apparantly, they told me to send it standard 1st or 2nd class which i dont think is possible due to the weight and even still i felt uncomfortable returning it with no insurance as post sometimes goes walkies! I also needed it for tomorrow so needed to get it to them asap to receive the replacement on time x
