hi there! im going for a trade test tomorrow for a therapist job.
when i had my first interview, she said that in july they are changing the wage to commision based, where i will get either 1o or 2o % of each treatment cost, sorry cant remember which she said, and also 5% of products i sell. do u think that this is all i will get or do you think this will be on top of say mininum wage for example. obviously i will make sure i find out when i go for my trade test tomorrow, just wanted your views on commision based earnings etc etc
thanks guys xx

i would assume on top of minimum wage. because if not, and you didnt make enough via commission to meet minimum wage, they would be in trouble! only one way to find out...ask them! everyone in my salon is on commission and i think its a great idea. x

i agree! i think its a fantastic idea to keep staff motivated! she that i have the potential to be on 11 to 12 pph so i am sure that cant be on its own! thanks though for answering back so quickly! x

make sure you know what your wage will be between now and then...and then exactly what it will be when you get changed to different structure. I responded well to being on commission...it gives you a bit of insight into how a salon works financially.

let us know how you get on :D xx

Working on commission usually means commission only and no base wage.

If that is the case, it is, in my view, a deplorable way to employ someone and I would strongly advise against it.

If it's in addition to a base wage, then that's great. But as the others have suggested, ask for details and get them in writing.

hi guys! just to let u all no that i got the job! yey! so excited! and i will be on minimum wage with commision on top! cant wait to start! xxxx

Brilliant!!!! This is how I start all my staff of, min wage or a bit more, and commission. Its an easy way for you to track your own progress.

When do you start?

im not sure yet. i need to give 5 weeks notice at my job but im
hoping that they will let me give less! im so excited! x
