Hey girls

Can you please take a look at my make up application photos on my website

www.aphroditesbridalservices.co.uk

And give me some constructive critism on how it looks etc....

<braces one self>

Oh, and more pics coming soon!

Truthfully? prettier models would be a good idea. Sorry x

ouch! lol!

Thanks for your comment but i feel in life not everyone is a "stunner" and that i show what i can do with "normal" people as they are my clients and the people who are going to walk through my door.

Anyway thank you for the comment

I know, but "normal" doesnt sell. Aspirational sells.

Can you not at least photoshop the one with the bad teeth?

Probably,... but i won't because it's not the truth

brutal lol

i think you pricing is a bit mad, wedding trial make up £25, on the day £55
trial hair £40, on the day £80

i usually take longer at the trial to do a few looks so charge a round figure for the whole thing, ie, hair on the day inc trial, £120.

i dunno just seems mad to charge so much less for a trial when you could well be there afew hours?? (i know i sometimes am with some bridezillas)lol
xx

:D You are a wicked women.
I thought i was going to see some right hideous people but they are fine and they do all look much nicer in their makeup which shows you are good at what you do.
As you already know it would be better with a few more.

when i did my research, everyone charged seperately and less for trial than on the day. I compared over 40 people in my area and worked out the average

Thanks. I have more to add but dont have the chip to hand, waiting to get it back from someone. I have much more to add.

Im sorry, but i totally agree with persianista,
If i were choosing a professional to do my wedding make up and found you site, i would be very wary of you pics, if not a little frightened,
no not everyone looks like that in real life,
but also not everyone are 6ft,and a size zero.but thats what clothes look good on on the catwalk, just as make-up looks better on pretty faces. Its the same reason they add hair extensions in hair product ads,and eyelash extensions in mascara as.I asked my mum her opinion, and she said the same,sorry..........

Appreciate your comments about my "ugly models" (RUDE - because they're not), but i think it is a great shame that people will be shallow enough to think "oh god she's not very pretty, that make up artist can't be good at her job even though after she's done her thing they look alot better"

i think its disgusting that these opinions enter peoples heads - shows what advertising has done to the brain.
i'm going to stand by what i believe in and use my REAL clients and models whether they are stunners or not.

Nice how my request on my work has totally been overlooked. So far noone has commented on my make up skills, just the people i use - sad

And i personally think the one at the end of the slideshow is quite pretty!!!

Well i havent actually got my glasses on but i think they are fine, Not models obviously but then you are not working for Loreal. I agree and think it is better to show real people and they do all look really nice after their make up.I guess you could show them in different settings as some are a bit like passport photos.
Perhaps do some close ups of eyeshadow with eyes closed.

THANKYOU!!! AT LAST!! lol

Thank you for the tip about eye shots, will def make a note to do this. I have some to add later of brides in their dresses which i think will help too. Appreciate your feedback

Well i have to say that when i am looking at make overs with perfect people, i tend to not take much notice. I always think 'well they looked really good in the first place' and then i try and look for some flaws-lol
I'd much rather see ordinary people as that is what most people are.
I think the one Dawn was on about, looks so much better in the after picture, so this shows your talent off great. Well done!

Thank you. I thought it was a great before and after to use. The before admittedly is not the most desierable and i really admire her allowing me to use it. But the after one really makes you go "make up is amazing!!!" (i think) :)

I thought your models were fine and they did look much nicer in the after pics. However you did ask for people opinions and then didnt like the answers and thats fine but if you dont want to know what people think then dont ask. I agree with you but not everyone will, but that will also show the publics reaction because some people are brutal some are not lol. Why not have some pretty some ordinary and some where you have worked miracles that way you can please everyone lol ps you are very brave I have never posted anything as I know people can be brutal lol x

Hi

I think the quality of the photo is letting you down a bit. Before takin photo consider the background, lighting, what flash setting you are using, how close you are to the model, with a little big of tweaking you can get photos that are really flattery and show off your work to its best.

I didn't get a 'wedding feel' from your pictures perhaps you could get pictures with them in their tiara, on the day in their dress, etc just to give them more of a wedding feel.

Hope this helps

Clare

Great advice, :D
You could ask the brides to email you a photo that the photographer took on the day too, I am sure they wouldnt mind, that way you will have it taken professionaly.

One of my clients emailed me all the close up photos taken by her photographer on her wedding day to show off her lashes - they are now pride of place on a slideshow on my lashes page on my website! x

Do you want comments on the photo's or the make up itself?

Photo's:- I would stand the models in front of a blank wall and not the window of the door. I think this has been said but have their event photo as the after photo.

Make-Up:- Great transformation for them all. How about maybe showing some really varied looks. Natural beauty right through to vamp look.

I think the ladies in the photo's are lovely but it's true that people buy into a lifestyle and that's why we all love celebrity. They want to look at how they 'could' look. For example the lady in the nails photo has quite uneven nail beds so it doesn't show your polish off to it's best. xxx

Its not a case of not liking the answers.

I asked for critism about my work and make up application not how astheticially pleasing my models are to the eye. I did not ask "are my models "pretty"? So i don't think the answers i got were helpful. It's up to me to use the people i have used and i will use "normal" people and not give in to the pressure of only having "good looking" people. It's unrealistic.

You get brides of all levels of looks, by just putting pictures of "pretty" people i feel you are giving your potential clientele the wrong impression. I want people to feel that they can come to me however they look. It's my reputation at risk and i'm willing to risk it.

I just wish people had commented on my work like i'd asked. And i do feel the need to defend my models
