Hi.. I think some good advise to ladies out there is to remove their nail polish from toe nails and don't leave it on for weeks or even months!!
This summer so many new clients came to me with brown flakey toe nails  lovely!!... 'course they didn't know what was lurking under all those layers they had applied themselves.

So girlys please take off your polish and don't leave it to grow out as there can be a lot of chemicals in there.. touline and formaldehyde in some and basically they eventually eat away at the nail plate, leaving it looking pretty disgusting and don't get me started on clients that come in for a french polish on toes with a layer of false tan on their toes that has to be buffed off before the polish is applied... so just applying some base coat or even a thin layer of vaseline on the fingers and toes will stop you getting brown nails and cuticles. Whoops sorry didn't mean to go off on one there.. must have pmt:rolleyes:

If a client comes for a manicure or pedicure with nail polish on, or a facial treatment with makeup on, the therapist has to allow time to remove it. They will only have a set amount of time for each treatment. If it takes an extra five minutes to remove stubborn waterproof mascara, then the therapist may have to reduce your facial massage time by five minutes. If it takes an extra five minutes to remove stubborn nail polish (like the layers built up or glitter polish!) then the foot and leg massage part of the pedicure may be reduced.

Another one is clients arriving for Indian head massage with dirty hair as they say they're only going to get oil in it and have to wash it. This is just bad manners! why should the therapist have to put their hands into dirty hair and onto a dirty scalp?!

Basically - arrive prepared!

Hi

I love giving tips!

How about:

  • if don't have a body brush to help get the lymphatic system going and to help the skin before using a body scrub - can use a really dry flannel in long stroking movements towards the heart starting from the feet (before getting in bath or shower) - is just as effective and gives a lovely tingly feeling
  • Use unrefined demerara sugar and olive oil out of cupboards to make up a body scrub
