ouch !!!...first off i would file the rest down to prevent it happening again......(that was light hearted)

I think a NNO to protect it while the damage grows out wouldn't hurt...i wouldn't sculpt or tip it though.

definetely won't take the others down.... have my nails already over 5 years and sometimes accidents can happen
will look at it tomorrow because now it is still very painful ;-)

OUCH!!!!!!! that looks sssssooooooo painful hun I agree with BP a NNO maybe while it's growing just to protect but to be honest I would probably just leave it for a while as It looks very raw!!!

OMG, that looks painful!

I'm not sure really what to say on this one as with your other long long nails, you are going to want a similar length for this broken one no matter what advice is given!!! I know nail techs and how they think!

The nail plate has been so thinned by the trauma of this accident that it really will not support a heavy overlay, and if you do something similar to it again, you really will be in trouble.

Could you not try something like building up a bit of support with layers of Resin first .... then buff smooth and then fashion a long stiletto shape with a light weight tip and then a few more layers of resin to smooth it all into one? If a nail like this broke, it would not cause the damage of a L&P or gel enhancement (nor the pain). It is what I would do for you if you asked me to fix it for you. You are probably looking at 5 - 6 months like this with a temporary solution.

how the hell did you do that much damage ?
I would do as Geeg suggested, base with a few coats of resin ....... then, lo and behold, I would put a short Popit on it, so you dont have to file or buff.

Or better still whack a tip on it , pre shaped with acrylic ...(a prosthetic) using blutack (or a bandaid) as the adhesive until it heals.
This looks similar to an MMA nail being ripped off.
Made my lasagne swap sides in my tummy.

thanks for the given adcices
@ gigi you know exactly how the mind of a nailtech works :green: and i would love to have a long nail again but i know i have to do the smart thing here so it will heal perfectly
your idea with the resin seams attractive but unfortunately that is the only system i haven't learned
think i will just create the nailbed again so it is protected and can grow again

kept it as short and as thin as possible
also will use desinfection and oil every day and every week i will take all product off to check healing stage
thanks for all the advice guys :green:

Sabrina ... Just a small note of caution. This nail is not open or bleeding. I do not think you need to soak off every week and check. Bearing in mind that a soak every week in Acetone is overkill and will not do the nail any good while it is still so thin and weak. I would check every 3 weeks at most. 20 weeks or MORE of weekly soak offs is just too much stress for this poor battered nail. While acetone is not harmful it is drying and stressful and it is unnecesary I think to check so often unless you know you have given it a bad knock. xx:hug: Best of luck.

okay thanks for the advice geeg
didn't know that so i guess i just follow your advice on it :green:
