Hi all, Looking for some advice from Decleor specialists. In my last pregnancy I used The arromessence sculpt oil in the Third trimester and loved it. Well I am 10 weeks pregnant again and wanting to start using it throughout this pregnancy(my other oils fragrance make me feel queasy) My only problem is that Iv read conflicting reports, some saying it is safe in pregnancy, others saying not as it contains myrrh which can be a stimulant. Also some saying yes its safe but not till after 14 weeks?? So if someone could shed some light it would be much appreciated. Also i wanted to make sure it is 100% natural with no parabens in etc?? many thanks. x

No not if it has Myrrh in it.Decleor use Essential oils and not just parfum and Myrrh has emmenagogue properties.
I used my own blend of just base oils in my pregnancy.

All of the Decleor Sculpt range have undergone rigorous in vitro and ex vitro testing on the active ingredients, clinical tests on the effect of Aromessence Sculpt, and tests on pregnant women under the supervision of a gynecologist. They are perfectly safe during pregnancy, and were designed to be safe to use during pregnancy.

As regards myrrh essential oil, it is thought by some to possibly be an emmenagogue on the basis of a hormonal action, but I have yet to come across a citation for the essential oil actually having this action (it seems there is some confusion between the action of the plant when ingested and the essential oil when topically applied, which are not always the same). Aromatherapy for Healthcare Professionals notes that none of the French writers cites it as such, and that Balacs (1992) considers it to have 'doubtful toxicity', and on this basis considers it one that can be used by adequately trained aromatherapists during pregnancy under caution (as is the case with all essential oils anyway!).

Personally, I would carefully consider whether or not to use myrrh in my own blends during pregnancy, but I have no issue with using Sculpt in my treatments during pregnancy as that specific blend has been tested for safety and efficiency.

Because you would be using a stretch mark oil once possibly twice every day and directly onto a large absorption area.My view is to leave the essential oils out and most definately for the first trimester.

I think ultimately everyone has to decide for themselves what they feel comfortable doing. However, in terms of actual clinical evidence, the Sculpt range has been thoroughly and clinically tested for safety during pregnancy, and if used as directed it is perfectly safe to use.

As regards the other question, yes the Aromessence Sculpt is 100% natural in that it is purely essential oils and plant oils; no parabens etc.
