Hi Guys!
I invested in OPI GelColor back in March and im sure youve read how Ive had problems with it, chipping, peeling etc.
I spoke to Lena White on the phone yesterday who basically told me everything I already knew, and also explained it was all down to prep however I am following all their steps of prep. They did advise me to use a Axxium gel overlay for strength however when I asked how long to cure in my LED lamp I was told it cannot be cured in the LED Lamp only in UV. Disappointing.
Anyway today I tried layering some colours... It turned out terrible, literally looked like one colour on top of another. I know thats basically what it is but it didnt blend in together.
I also asked Lena White when their new colours are coming out... They dont have a set date only that its around 2 months and will be from the touring america collection and from the Holland collection.
Anyway Ive decided im going to sell some of my OPI GelColors and buy some Gelish. If I see an OPI colour I like I will purchase but for now I am swaying towards Gelish simply because of all the colour choice and I know they regulary run special offer... OPI will not be doing any offers at the Beauty UK show either :(
Does anyone know what offers Gelish will be running at Beauty Uk?
Will they also be doing the offers online like they did with Excel?
Annnd how long do I cure Gelish in the OPI LED Lamp? x

Just do everyone a favour and do not sell your pro products on eBay? Thank you.

Also don't expect miracles with another gel. The fact is that all these gels behave pretty much the same and if you have clients who are complaining of chipping and peeling, they will complain just the same with another gel. You only have to look at the FB pages of every gel polish company and they all have their fair share of techs who complain of chipping and peeling, wrinkling and bubbles. Same with Shellac. There is no miracle product.

Often problems are down to using these products on the wrong type of nails, painting too thickly (number one cause of most problems), incomplete prep etc.

I wonder, did you do specialist training to use the opi gel? This is a must and if you haven't, I'd do it before reinvesting in another gel.

All these products work best on the right clients with the right type of nails which are the right length and who follow your advice re aftercare. Clients have fewer complaints when you don't over hype the longevity of the product; 2-3 weeks is enough wear for anyone and they have to do their part too.

Not sure whether your problems are down to you or your clients or a bit of both ... Look carefully at what you are doing, what you are saying, and what they are doing before you re-invest in yet another system. Jmo

The guild have a pro site where you an list your products for pros to buy. Please look at that avenue before you resort to eBay.

eBay does no good to our profession do please do not sponsor it. I understand wanting to sell, but I'd rather not sell at all than to sell to a non pro on eBay.
thanks for listening.

I agree wholly with Geeg. I currently use Gelish and every now and then there is a client who chips. I think OPI and Gelish are probably quite similar. It's the really cheap brands that don't go the distance.

AH! Chelle:sad: I have had nothing but good feedback from my OPI, I am so sad that this is the way you want to go...... How long is lasting on you? I have a few clients that struggle to keep their Shellac on, as you know, and bought in to OPI, and it has been great - but I am saving to do the L&P and Brisa course as I can then offer Brisa under Shellac for those that need added strength.

Look if you need any help or want to chat on the phone PM me and I am happy to help you!!

In your PEP are you using NAS99? as I have personally found this no as good as CND ScrubFresh and DSperse to wipe away inhibition layer.... This can easily be purchased either through S2 or your local CND ambassadors or Ellisons... I would REALLY REALLY try SCRUBFRESH before you decide to sell OPI!

You know where I am if you need to talk - I am in Surrey so you can always come over
Take care

I use Gelish and I have clients who it lasts on for 3 weeks plus and others that chip it within a week, the same clients everytime, its either something they are doing or its just their nails.

I dont know the answers to your questions about the offers at the shows but I always order my Gelish on VAT free day at Sallys, that way I do not pay the VAT or the delivery x

I too am having a fantastic time with OPI even on my peely clients.

However one of my ladies whomis 65 has the bendiest nails I've ever seen and despite using solar oil and scentsations religiously both shellac and opi rarely last more than a week on her.

So I suggested having an L+P overlay which we did and SHE LOVES. But she still loves shellac and OPI so still has them.

She was never disappointed that they only lasted a week because normal polish on her only lasted a couple of hours but we found an alternative.

Don't promise two weeks, I learnt the hard way. God luck in your decision.
Also agree about scrub fresh and disperse. Definitely better xxxx

Hi Fiona!
Its lasting about 2 - 3 weeks on me! But on my clients maybe around a week! Some of my clients have weak nails which is hard as OPI wont be bringing out a Structure Gel for another 2 months! And I dont want to just limit myself to clients with brilliant nails as many people dont have good nails!
Thank you for all your help! Youve always commented on my posts with postive comments!
I am thinking about changing my PEP products, however I went a bit crazy at excel and brought big bottles of OPI stuff so now probably have to sell them also!
Im not going to sell all my OPI just some of my colours and then purchase some Gelish, if OPI bring out a colour I absolutely love then ill purchase! The layering kinda ruined it for me as I thought oh well Ill just create my own colours until they bring out more but it just didnt look good at all!
Thanks so much for your support! Its lovely!

K-Nails I dont promise two weeks anymore, just that it lasts longer than a normal manicure! I did used to promise almost 3 weeks! I will deffo purchase some ScrubFresh and Disperse xx

Hi ladies could you please tell me what's in scrubfresh and how it is different to the NAS? Thanks x
