This thread is inspired by a hair appointment I had today. My stylist and I are on a mission to get my hair as long and healthy as possible. Well, she does her part, but I definetly don't do mine. LOL!
I'm supposed to tie my hair up in a scarf to prevent breakage, use this super expensive shampoo and conditioner once a week, come in every six weeks for a trim, blah, blah, blah.
The irony is, we give our clients similar aftercare instructions, and educate them on how to get the most out of their services, but do we follow "aftercare" advice when we get services done? Do you follow the advice of your hairstylist? Facialist? Or even your own advice for your nails? Do you follow through with treatment instructions?
Do you follow the advice from your doctor? Dentist? Or even the little care tag on the inside of your clothes? What advice is there that you KNOW you should be following, but you don't? I'm curious, let's share.

Nails, I never wear rubber gloves when cleaning, dishes etc. I hate the feel of them. I don't use cuticle oil daily.

Dentists, I don't floss daily, brush teeth after every meal.
Doctors, I smoke, occasionaly binge drink on a weekend out with the girls, eat the wrong foods.
Podiatist, I don't wear my inserts in my shoes all the time.

I've never really thought about this but we could save our self so much time and money if we did as we were told couldn't we.
I doubt if you'll find anyone who does.
Too much time on their hands if they do.

I will admit that i never used to follow what i preach about nails, but i do now. It does make a difference and as was said previously it does save you time and money if you follow advice given. I do wear gloves when washing up, i do use cuticle oil virtually every day and i don't pick at my nails even though i used to be a chronic nail biter. I have found my nails last so much longer, rarely need alot doing to them and just look so much betterfor following my own advice. Plus i save time from doing repairs to make them look good for my clients.

As for doctors advice and dentist........ well i'm human, i have to say i don't always follow what i'm meant to do, so i suppose we are all guilty of it.

Hi Diya...big hugs :green:

I know exactly what you mean, my hair was vertually at the bottom of my back and I have to say I had not been to a hairstylist in months, 6 to be exact :o which I know is shocking, but the ends where not in a bad condition, but hell guess what :!: as soon as I had it cut 4 weeks ago the life that came back to is was amazing....I have now made a promise to myself to 'practice what I preach' and I will be visiting the sytlist again in 2 weeks, so I keep upto the every 6 week visit. :green:

But when it comes to nails, darn right I do. I put oil on daily along, 3 times if I can, and then there is hand cream which I Palmers Coco Butter Formula after every hand wash (not a pro brand I know but i love it and have used it for 10 years) and I never let me nails get to long even though I love em like talons  and I do my main every 2 weeks

So when it comes nails yes I do practice what I preach...

Hi,
I'm much the same as Marie111 when it comes to the Dentists, :o
and if I was to follow the Doctors advice, hubby would have me wrapped in cotton wool (major stress/worrier me  ). However I do try my best when it comes to my nails and my daily facial cleansing routine.
I think if I followed every be of advice/aftercare given I'd crack up and would really have to learn better time management.

I'm with Marie111. Although the only routine I stick to religiously is having my roots done every 4 weeks. Anything longer and it's too scary to imagine!!
Sorry nails...must try better!!

Ooh yes I have my roots done every 4 weeks religiously.

Really naughty - but i BITE my nails off

Now let me see.....I put solar oil when i remember .......I never look at the care labels on cloths :o ........i never brush my teeth after every meal.......but I always wear rubber gloves when cleaning and washing up :D

OMG!! I just fell off my chair!!
You BAD girl!! Someone should spank you!
LOL!
Why do you bite your nails? And are you trying to stop?

I have to add......
As far as nails, I use solar oil at least three times a day (I'm really Obsessive Compulsive about it.) I don't wear enhancements, but I use Nailtiques everyday with Cuticle Eraser/Solar oil, so that petty much covers my natural nails.
I do use gloves when cleaning.
I consider myself "The Pedicure Queen" because I do at least 7 everyday, but My own feet are so neglected, they should want to have no parts of me anymore. LOL!
Otherwise, I need to be better about seeing my stylist regularly. I'll go every two weeks, and do at home care, and then completely stop.
I get facials regularly because I work in a spa (discount!!), and I'm good about doing my skincare at home too.
I don't take care of my teeth the way I should, in fact, I need to have them whitened. I drink waaaaay too much coffee!
And someone needs to smack me over the head with a diet book. I don't have a weight problem, but if I don't slim down on my portions, and cut back salt....I could be in trouble!! LOL!!
