Hello all.Do any of you use gel polish? What do you think about it?I have IBD soakoff polish, but just cant get the application right,it seams wishy washy.I might be puting it on to thin.

Hi Nailqueen, I used Nobility Gel for the very first time last night, I am a CND liquid and powder girl, but I wanted to offer this as an alternative, after the first use I was really impressed with the ease of use and end result. For a first attempt it looked pretty good and I found it really easy to use.

I use calgel and not had a problem, I love it. Maybe you're not doing enough layers?

And, mix the gel first cos they can seperate. Especially the glittery ones.

Hiya,

I find the IBD gel polishes really need a good mixing around with a spatula first, use a nice slow folding action with it so you don't create too much air or bubbles. All the colour seems to sit at the bottom, if you already do this then perhaps it's just that particular shade, you will need a few layers though with IBD, max 3, but two works in some colours, treat it like any other polish, use a base, then two layers then a gloss! Iv been using them for ages, I love them, especially on toes!!

I just attended an ibd nail art course. It was fantastic and I am a Calgel Girl.
I bought the soak of kit and 4 colous at excel. I love the colours especially the 'too many shoes' pink! The buff off gel polish was better to work with for nail art as it doesn't run as much as the soak off does. There are lots of colours and you can mix them to create other colours let alone add glitter etc. I still love Calgel and can make a full set with Calgel and then put ibd on top to create art or a plain colour. It all works well together as long as you remove Calgel sticky layer and buff before ibd goes on.

The colour gels did need stiring and as already said fold it carefully to avoid air bubbles. I love gel and I must say I am very impressed with ibd polish gel!

Gel polishes are lovely. Think most of us on here just call it colour gel. There is biosculpture, calge, IBD, Akzentz and a few other companies who specialise in colour gels.

It sounds is if your gels needs a good stir before application. Also, try to let the brush fan out too much when you are applying the gel. Use light strokes along the nail and you should get a better application.
