Firstly, I know eczema is a contra-indication to facial. My sister has got atopic eczema (since early childhood). Sometimes it clears up, then it comes back again.
She has recently came up in eczema around her eyes and on her neck and it just won't go away. Her skin is really dried out and wrinkles around the eyes are more prominent because she keeps rubbing them.(the eczema makes it itchy)
I was wondering whether I can give her regular facials anyway to make the skin look better. I would obviously avoid the eye area. Is facial a good thing for someone with eczema?
Also, I would be too worried to use my products on her skin as she is so sensitive to everything so I was thinking using her products? (she uses clinique)
Any advice much appreciated.

Use products with colloidal oatmeal, this is barrier repairing, calming, soothing and has an anti itch property.
You can get cleansers and amazing masques to use which are amazing on this skin condition!

Maybe it's the Clinique that's making it bad

Hi there, just wanted to say that if your sister is already suffering from eczema Clinique is possibly one of the worst product ranges she could use! It's well known for being astringent and drying. Clinique is a cosmetic Skincare range, so will not necessarily help such skin conditions. I'd definitely recommend she converts to a professional range as soon as possible. Liz Earle is one I would recommend. It's very reasonably priced, and extremely gentle on the skin. You can even buy it from department stores such as John Lewis  with the cleanser/exfoliator (cleanse and polish) you get muslin cloths that will help to gently remove and build up of skin she has. hope this is helpful to you. Jem

Matthew do u believe Clinique in general is bad or for this particular person perhaps? I'm on a panic now! That's all I use x

There are some great formulations within the Clinique range, but there are also some rather nasty products!
Toners containing denatured alcohol which is the biggest barrier stripper there is.
It's all very much retail and the consultants even though trained in sales and the key benefits of the products lack any form of professional skin knowlege (unless BT trained prior to their sales job)

If concerned about your skin, alwYs look for a skin specialist with professional product range/s to get the best for your skin!

Thanks Matthew

Well my main concern is my chin seems spotty a lot! I'd like flawless skin but the rest I'm "ok" with x

I love their eye cream all about eyes and moisturiser dramatically different. Perhaps I should move to something else :(

Your sister may also find Argan oil a huge help. It can be used as a serum under a moisturiser.
Not suitable for nut allergy sufferers, and please test first.

Thank you Matthew. She has actually bought an eye cream containing colloidal oatmeal the other day as someone also recommended it to her. I 'll advise her to buy products with this ingredient.

I will advise her to stop using Clinique as it seems few of you have bad opininons about it.
Dandelionpoppy, thank you for your answer, but I am afraid she is a nut allergy sufferer also.

Hey I'm not much of a skin expert but we use thalgo where I work and they do a Rebalancing facial with micronised marine algae which is really good for psoriasis and eczema a bit smelly but results are great,Also a therapist I work with has bad eczema and uses extreme comfort cream by thalgo it's a really rich moisturiser but works wonders and she swears by it!
