Has anyone heard of filing the nail after application of shellac lasting longer please help as I don't do this

Do you mean to make it last longer or when trying to remove?

If you file the free edge of the nail after putting shellac on, then you will be removing the seal surely?

That is what I thought. I thought I may have read the post wrong originally.

The seal is to stop shrinking until cured, everything you do daily with your hands removes a bit of that seal until its all gone.. Imagine scratching your leg whilst wearing jeans.. Seal gone.

You can file nails when shellaced (sp)
Just use a 45° angle

Yes, you can file nails once Shellac is on!

I file my Shellacked nails every 3 days or so to maintain the length.

We all know the sealed edge wears off the sharp edge of the natural nail and it doesn't matter at all.

Filing the free edge with a soft grit file, maintains the length and keeps Shellac looking as if it were freshly applied for weeks.

So once there painted it's ok only some clients are saying it lasts longer
