Hi there

I'm just 5 weeks into a 10 week evening course leading to VCTC Level 2 Nail tech and this photo is of the set of enhancements completed for my very first assessment.

They were sculpted on a form using acrylic l&p and took about 2 hours 15 mins to complete. Unfortunately, I didn't really get much feedback from my tutor and I need to know which area to concentrate on improving.

I could also do with some advice on product. I'm currently using the IBD Flex system but am finding it very sensitive to temperature - if it gets slightly warm it starts to set on contact with the nail and thus my smile lines get very dodgy! Consistency is a big issue, so could anyone recommend a brand of acrylic l&p which stays a nice workable consistency in a larger range of temperatures?

Thanks for any input,

Hazel

could you please fill out your profile abit more as we dont know anything about your training, products and you:) thanks.
i think they look pretty good.
i would say that your smile lines need to be more smiley as they look quite straight and your side wall need to be taken in as some of the nails look abit wide.the idex finger also looks as though it is shorter than some of the other nails so you need to make sure that they are all consistant in length and shape aswell as the whites.
i cant comment on apex etc.. as i cant see any of that from the angle of the photo.
i think the prodcut looks nice and flush at the cuticle and they have a really nice finish to the nail as they look nice and shiney.
hope this helps:)

Im disappointed your tutor didnt give you more feedback..sometimes there is so many in a class its just a question of YESSS theyve passed but really- as a trained assessor you shouldve had more.. I teach this subject and to be honest.. if you were one of my students id be over the moon at these nails for a first assessment. WELL DONE..better than any in my class and they are good! but if you want me to be critical as a nail tech.. yes again the side walls need taking in to prevent them looking so wide and you apex placement could be a bit lower to avoid it looking "top heavy" but really for a first assessment .. this is a really good job and you have a great future..!!! the cuticle area is GOOODDD!!
