hi all,its my first day in a lovely salon tomorrow, and im usually so confident but nerves are kicking in,i worked in a salon years ago then had a break and done more training,my trade test went well and all the girls are welcoming,im starting on reception first and cant believe how sick i feel even tho this is my dream job, dont want to fluff it up,any tips or advice for tomorrow would be great.

Hi Lise,

I'm new to this too so can't give you too much "on the floor" advice. I would just say remember that they hired you for a reason, a/becasue they thought you were up to the job and b/because the liked you and thought you would fit in well there.
I'm sure you'll be fine, and at least they're easing you into reception so you can get a feel for the place.
Just remember all that extra training you did can only be an advantage on top of the salon experience you already have.

Good luck x

Good luck for tomorrow, you will be fine. Here are some reception tips that may help.

When someone calls always ensure you take their name and their contact details, read the phone number back to them to ensure you have written it down correctly.

Use pencil at all times in the appointment book(that's if its not a pc)so you can rub out any changes of appointments etc.

Write a little note of what you will say to callers when they call, once you have said it a few times it will come easily.

Dont be nervous about answering the phone, speak slowly and clearly.

Enjoy the experience,I expect you will be carrying out treatments sooner than you think. HTH

Deep breath every time you are feeling that "OMG" feeling, like it was said above they hired you for a reason, having workmates that are friendly and welcoming a is great plus, I am sure they will be right there if you have any questions, and in any new job no matter how good you are there are always questions as no two workplaces are the same. Great that you are on reception to begin with, will let you get a feel of how the days work, timings, popular treatments and get to know the clients as well, best wishes for tomorro, you will be back here tomorro telling us what a feb 1st day you had, and how you can't wait to get back in there!! xx
