hi, i was tellin you all about a client i had over a week ago an did a full set of acrylics on and she phoned me 8 days after saying that her natural thumb nail was absoluetly throbbing but the rest was fine and it didnt start hurting straight away but gradually got worse as the days passed, well i removed the thumbnail yesterday and it looked bruised on her nail bed, as she has nice nails she asked me just to paint her a french on the thumb as the others were fine and she didnt want them removing but this morning she has phoned me and said the are all hurting now and wants me to remove them all i am really confused as to what is causing this, i didtwo other ladies with the same and used the same technique and they are fine, i have asked her about her job and she works in a cash and carry so has to pick up heavy objects and also uses a touch screen computer alot when shes on the till could these be contributing factors or am i having the wool pulled over my eyes, HELP lol.

Im not qualified in acrylic nails, but from what Ive read, it does sound like its job related, especially if the other two ladies are fine, all that lifting I should imagine will take its toll on her nails, depending on how long they are too? hope this may help? from a logical point of view :)

A couple of years ago before I was training myself, I used to have acrylics, everytime I went my nails got longer and longer, I loved them but very impractable for my job. Retail assistant/cashier, times I knocked a nail and bruised it, so I wouldnt be at all surprised if it isnt work related.

I doubt very much if its something your doing if your other clients are fine.

I caught my index fingernail on my right hand last week while helping take apart some children's playground equipment. It HURT. The acrylic had lifted and the went back down again, but you could see the massive bruise that had appeared underneath. I grabbed a pair of clippers out of my bag and put a crack into the acrylic, to ease the pressure. It helped a lot, until I could soak the nail off. It was a lovely red-black colour - yuck! There were no open areas so I reapplied my nail and got on with things, but it took a good 4 or 5 days for it to calm down.

I can only wonder what would have happened if I'd jammed that finger WITHOUT acrylics on!

Did you do the removal of the thumb and paint for free? If you did it may be that she's looking for another freebie xx
